Two-year-old Lambic in which elderberry flowers have been soaked.
The character of the elderberry flowers lends this beer a very pronounced, floral taste that is nevertheless very refreshing.
Since 2008, once a year Cantillon Brewery has produced Zwanze, a special-edition beer that is completely different each time around, with Mamouche originally appearing as Zwanze 2009. This beer is completely different from anything else produced by Cantillon, and we decided to continue producing it on a regular basis. Mamouche is what the seven grandsons of the Van Roy-Cantillon family call their grandmother, Claude Cantillon. As such it is the counterpart of the Lou Pepe beers.

Bottle, at the brewery. 2017. Pale orange. Light haze. Slim ring of white head. Nose has recognisable, cheesy, woody funk. Notes of elderflower. Baked apple. Squidgy pear. Very fruity, with maybe some light hop character. Taste is floral, and herbal sweet, turning dry, and light sour. Light body. Dry and cleansing. Woody, herbal, floral finish.

750 ml, bottled 14/06/2016, bottle shared by Werckmeister, thanks!
Orange, moderate hazy body, with a medium, frothy, yellowish head.
Aroma of sweet elderflower, barnyard, unripe fruits, citrus, some basement, some wood.
Tastes quite similar, with a bit more of the unripe fruits, like pears and apples.
Medium to light, slick mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes medium dry, moderate funky, sour-fruity, cheesy, wooden, with elderflower, unripe pears, green apples.
Very tasty, balanced stuff. Just the right levels of funkiness, sour fruits and sweet elderflowers, with a pleasant dryness towards the finish. Among my favourite Cantillons and a really characterful style example.

Bottle shared at the brewery. 2017 version. Great funky nose. The beer starts fruity. Lots of floral fruits, refreshing and sour. Not too funky, smooth with nice floral fruity parts. Fresh smooth funky sourish aftertaste. Great.

Another nice and typical Cantillon beer. More easy to spot the elderflower in this one.
Hazed golden color with a fine white head. Ok intensity in the aroma. Medium body and a fine carbonation level. Good balanced and mellow acidity. Elderflower, typical green apples, fruity and funky flavor.
[On tap at Zwanze -17 in Oslo, Norway]
