A true Geuze. A blend of 1, 2, and 3 year-old lambic unfiltered and unpasteurized and aged in the bottle for at least 6 months after blending. Continued fermentation in the bottle give this Geuze its famous champagne-like spritziness. The lambic that goes into it is brewed only with 60% barley malt, 40% unmalted wheat, aged hops, and water, spontaneously fermented by wild yeasts, and matured in oak casks.

3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze is a blend of one-, two-, and three-year old lambics. Spontaneous fermentation, patient maturation in oak barrels, and continued evolution of the ecosystem in the bottle result in a distinctively complex and elegant natural beer. No two bottlings are alike, as there are multiple variables in the blending process, a variety of barrel sizes and shapes, differences in aged lambic proportions in the blend, etc. When cellared properly, 3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze can be aged for several decades. The aromas and flavours will evolve from notes of vibrant fresh citrus, zesty and grassy notes to a mellow, oaky, stone fruit bouquet as the lambic continues to develop with time. Lambic and Geuze are living, cultural heritage rooted in the Zenne valley! Taste, savour, enjoy and experience this bottle fermented, unfiltered, unpasteurised and unadulterated beer with friends new and old!

Taster at gfs, courtesy of Sander, big thanks. amber rather hazy color, small white head. smells funky, cheesy, grassy, oak, light sherry, bit citric. very nice smell. full body, soft subtle carbonation. tastes citric, grassy, funky, earthy, some oak, hints of sherry, light horse radish, some acidic notes. finishes dry and light to medium sour with notes of citrus, grass and funky notes. very nice one, almost a tad too much carbonation. taste has a bit of a weird acidic note that doesnt totally convince me, leaning towards a vinegarish edge. still very good to drink, but not the best 3f Geuze, if this mellows out with some age, this is going to be great.

#lambiclauantai #properglassware. Quite fruity and citrusy, not as aggressively sour as some 3F blends can be

Bottle shared. Nit much to say, this is lovely funky and fruity, not too sour. Great blend, this is a lot better then a lot of their specials.

Pours clear , bit darker blonde. Medium sized head. Scent is expressively green apple, beautifull refined funk. Wood, but not as expressed on the amontillado as I had (un)secretly hoped. Taste is dry, tart, bit mineral. Malic acid is higher than the AVG 3F. High carbonation, this could benefit from a few years of storage, still. The amontillado barrel is a fun trivia, but doesn't show itself in any form or shape. Still, a lovely geuze - but 3F always needs a bit of time to reach the sheer beauty it often has the potential to become.

Woody and musky. Some cobweb, hay. Quite pronounced funky backbone. Low acidity.

More funky nose and upfront but lighter flavor, the finish is packing more apple and lime and chilies than whatever base gueuze I make my comparison on, delish!
