Blend of lambics aged on average 16 to 18 months and of Merlot grapes.
Lambic can be rightly considered the missing link between the worlds of wine and beer, and Saint Lamvinus takes this one step further by adding grapes normally intended for wine production.
Intense, fruity beer that lingers on the palate and has a clear connection to its winemaking origins.

Its about time to rate this. This bottle has come around a few times of the years at tastings. I remember when this was always available for purchase in Long Island but no one wanted to pay the outrageous price tag. Now this is a whale and no one can get it. I was working a pouring station and pouring this beer at Snallygaster 2018. Had a few sneaks for myself and though its about time to rate it. As other Canitllons this is more acidic and rougher. Compared to other lambics the color is beautiful and the grapes really come through. Its this paradox of sweet grapes and Cantillon aggression.

Draft at Snallygaster DC 2018. Poured a very slightly hazy dark ruby color with not much of a head - wispy. Aroma was very pleasant, delicate fruit notes. Not overly tart. Sweet, pleasant. Nice.

28.03.2020 0,75l bottle at home. Bottled 22.11.2017. redish / bourdeaux like hazy color, small white head. Smells of light grapes, earthy, cellar funk, some tannins after a bit, light berries, light joghurt, ligh radish notes. Once it warms up smell gets a lot more grape forward, notes of red peaches, light berry notes & light marzipan. Full bodied, good amount of carbonation. Tastes funky, light tannins, light joghurt, some light radish notes again, some spices and a bit peppery, subtle grape and berry notes.
Finishes dry with only a subtle sourness actually rather juicy, with light grape, peachy and some tannins. Subsequent pours were a lot darker in color. Smell was just lovely after it warmed up, very grape forward grape with light notes of tannins.

75cl bottle (2016), cracked just prior to England vs Colombia. Pours a deep rosy pink. Aroma has nice fruity merlot grapes. Taste is initially crisp, sharp sour on the palate that teases out some nice woody red wine notes blended well with the grape presence. Aroma sticks around with some additional blackcurrant ribena notes. Gentle acidity. Pleasantly balanced.
