This luxurious brew begins with a big, beautiful Abbey Dubbel which then heads to our cellar, where it's gracefully aged for six months in a mix of bourbon and brandy casks. This blend of barrels adds an additional layer of flavor and complexity to what is already an incredibly layered drinking experience. The result is a beer worthy of slow-sipping, and deep contemplation. A beautiful fusion of dark fruit, caramel, molasses, and bourbon. Sip and enjoy, but be warned, Double Barrel Dubbel may result in a spiritual awakening.

Pretty nicely done. Raisin and a hint of smoky tobacco. Brandy and whiskey elements are light and we'll integrated. Dark brown pour with good head. Some florals. Light sweet finish. Bottle.

The aromas and flavors are sweet malt, raisins, Belgian beer qualities. Head disappears fast to leaving a ring. I don't pick up any brandy or bourbon characteristics.

Opaque dark amber colour. Moderate malt depth, moderate sweetness, the barrel is really evident, not surprisingly the bitterness is almost absent.
Nice, simple.

12oz shared with Alex and Brian in Golden Ears on the Cold Creek campground. Appearance: brown with a tan head. Aroma: caramel, sweetness, Belgian yeasts, some dark fruits. Taste: along the same lines with quite a lot of toffee and brown sugar. Overall: not bad.

Bottle (2019 release) from Bert's Better Beers. Appearance is cloudy, very dark red-brown with mist of fine, dark particulates, no sparkle, thin cap of fizzy beige head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong mix of caramel, fig, dark fruits and milder bourbon. Taste follows aroma but greater depth of fig, dark fruit and caramel; milder bourbon and addition of brandy. Mouthfeel is medium-to-full bodied with thick, smooth texture, average carbonation, mild alcohol warmth that takes a bit of time to evolve and finish as taste. Overall, nicely balanced and rich aroma and flavors.
