Black ale with aromas and flavours of vanilla, dark chocolate, bourbon and roasted malt. The vanilla and cocoa marry nicely, without out-competing each other, to produce a surprisingly well balanced beer. This beer is mildly hoppy, but the cocoa introduces a touch of bitterness. Its colour may be intimidating, but it is a very smooth beer within reach of most beer drinkers. This highly appreciated dessert beer is brewed with organic fair-trade cocoa and first rate vanilla beans.

Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of creamy mocha coffee, licorice, milk chocolate, caramel, earthy vanilla and malt. Taste has smooth gritty mocha coffee, earthy vanilla, soft licorice, caramel, malt, sweet chocolate and hopjesvla. Smooth soft mouthfeel. Really good soft stout, reminds me of a classic soft creamy british stout.

From a bottle Dated 2-23-17 Black pour with a thin ring of tan bubbles. Plenty of dark roast and some biter chocolate. Well attenuated and not very big feeling. Mellowed IBU bitterness. And lingering cold campfire notes. Quite good.

Bottle from Radiomgb, thanks!"," Almost black and opague. Roast, vanilla and chocolate in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with vanilla, pear and chocolate. Some roastbitterness in the finish. Luscious and very drinkable. Cacao in the aftertaste. Only a bit too simple to get a 4+.

(Thanks, Jim! ozzy70) Bottle. A- Chocolate cake, vanilla. A- Black color, black liquid, light brown head. T- Chocolate, vanilla, slightly sweet, roasty, mocha. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Very good for a lighter abv stout. Not big on booze and not filled with tons of adjuncts. Almost tastes like German chocolate cake. Really tasty.
