One of the earliest examples of Russian Imperial Stouts in the United States, Expedition Stout offers immensely complex flavors crafted specifically with aging in mind.
A huge malt body is matched with a heady blend of chocolate, dark fruit and other aromas. The flavors will slowly meld and grow in depth as the beer ages in your cellar.

Black oil with a fine beige head. Ok lacing. Decent intensity in the aroma. Full body and a soft carbonation. Oily texture. Nice mellow sweetness. Not cloying in any way. Well masked alcohol. Coffee, some roast, chocolate, toffee and some dried fruits in the flavor.

355ml bottle. Pours an oily black colour with a brown creamy foam head which leaves some lacing. Nose of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, booze. Flavour is roast, malty, molasses, rich chocolate & coffee, dark fruits, some hops, and earthy bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, full bodied, soft carbonation, dry roasted bitter finish. Nicely balanced, very drinkable.

Bottle. Pours jet black, beige head with slight lacings. Aroma is big, molasses, roasted malt, leather, coffee, vanilla, tree. Well, the whole package really. Taste is creamy with big roastes malty notes, strong coffee, vanilla, finishes roasted, bitter and hides the alcohol well, red berries in the very end. Big body, medium carbo. Well, a real mouthful.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours pitch black with creamy, khaki head. Aroma of liquorice, wood, coffee and dried fruit. Taste of dark, bitter chocolate, liquorice, leather, ash and slight coffee. Dry and quite bitter. Big and bold but a little bit too bitter for me to give out higher scores.
