Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate and licorice. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Base malt modérée gardant des notes de grillés-caramel et pointe de café. Palais est agréablement malté, grillé, café avec un profil restant finement amer. Léger mais facile à boire, base malt anglais. Fini augure une pointe de levure, le tout est sec et une bonne bouche avec un bon mariage malt et houblons. Draft @ Porterhouse, Dublin. brune foncée, beige Houblonné avec note citrus, orge grillé, malt le tout pour une bouche qui reste légèrement amer. Malt grillé est présent pour un palais qui est léger est sec. Bière légère dont j’apprécie bien le côté malt grillé ainsi que la balance d’amertume apporté par le houblon. 7-3-7-3-13

Pours a very dark brown with a mocha head. Ruby highlights at the edges. Average lacing. Significantly darker than the Oyster Stout. Aroma is rich milk chocolate, milky coffee, molasses, caramel, roasted malt, raisins and some herbal hops. It’s dominated by the chocolate note, which is quite nice. The taste starts mildly sweetly with chocolate and coffee and finishes with roast and hop bitterness with a dash of dark malt acidity. There’s some good stout flavor in there. The aftertaste is rather hoppy. Mouthfeel is creamy and full. Relatively low carbonation.

Bottle listed at 5.7%. Pours with a deep black body with a khaki colored head that stays well and leaves very nice lacing. Aromas of roasted barley, grainy, caramel with noticeable esters (pear and other fruits. Rich cocoa and coffee notes which are pretty intense for a dry stout. Medium notes of earthy and woodsie british hops. Flavors are dry with roast. Roasted barley makes itself noticed with its sharpness. Dry, coffee grounds. Light caramel and bitterness. Finishes with a very light acidity. Estery. Light hop notes in the finish. Light carbonation yet has a creamy consistency. No alcohol warmth. Slight mouthbending astringency from the roasted barley. A classic interpretation of the style.

Bottle. Pours black with light coffee head. Nose of roasted chocolate malts, coffee and vanilla bean. Taste of fresh coffee grounds, light peat, flaked barley and roasted chocolate malts. Dry finish. A great session stout. I enjoyed this one thoroughly despite the 3.6 rating.

On tap. Pours black and almost opaque with a dense and creamy light brown head leaving quite some lacework. Somewhat ashy aroma. Medium body, low carbonation, hard roasted malts - almost burned - some ashes and dark fruit with a malt bitter finish. A fairly serious Stout actually. 281110
