16 ounce can. Opaque black brown color. Rocky tan head with lots of lacing. Roasted malt nose hints at black coffee and chocolate. First sip is robust dark malt. Notes of Hersheyβs chocolate syrup, piney hops and burnt toast. Full bodied with an underlying sweetness. Burnt sugar and black pepper. Burnt wood and soy sauce. Tasty.

Can from a Lazy Dog Dark brown/black in color with a huge mocha head that lasts forever leaving sticky lace on the way down. Earthy light citrus roasty licorice and dark burnt maltiness. Creamy smooth in the mouth. Pretty decent stout.

Pour is a black with a huge mocha tan head. Aroma is a slight bakers chocolate with a slight hop. Flavor is a sweet Hershey syrup sweet with a nice roast to finish with a bitter hop bite at the end. Decent stout on the sweeter side.

16 ounce can into snifter, canned on 2/18/2019. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, roasted nuts, dark bread/crust, light smoke/char, herbal, floral, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and dark/black/roast/bready malts notes; with big strength. Taste of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, roasted nuts, dark bread/crust, light smoke/char, herbal, floral, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, woody, floral, grassy, peppery hops; and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, roasted nuts, dark bread/crust, light smoke/char, herbal, floral, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and dark/black/roast/bready flavors; with an awesome roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and fairly sticky/chalky/resinous/rindy mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.7%. Overall this is an awesome hoppy stout. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and dark/black/roast/bready flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish; nicely soft and not aggressive. Feels like Galaxy, Citra, Mosaic. Very juicy and fairly dank/earthy hops; with nicely rich balancing malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. A really enjoyable offering. Basically just a black IPA, but I was a big fan either way.

Draught @ The Roost. Murky dark brown with very small creamy tan head, very faint roasted malt aroma, low carbonation, initially sweet roasted malt taste with alcohol undertones, woodsy flavor, somewhat thick body, long bitter finish. A bit flat.

Pours mahogany tinged black into an English pint. Tan head with medium retention recedes leaving sheet lacing. Milk chocolate aromas. Dry with charred licorice and soy upfront turning to dry bitter earth in the lasting finish. Becomes acidic as it warms.
