Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, many say, and if you are a beer geek there is no better way to start the day than with a powerful, complex morning stout.

This is the beer that started it all for Mikkeller. Oatmeal Stout brewed with coffee and seven different kind of malt (Pils, Oat, Smoked, Caramunich, Brown, Pale Chocolate, Chocolate), roasted barley, oat flakes, hops (Centennial, Cascade), American ale yeast and gourmet coffee. Aroma is a combination of malts, caramel, chocolate and coffee. The body is medium with light coffee and chocolate flavors with a creamy texture, average carbonation and a bitter edge on the finish. A beer that goes extremely well with breakfast.

Black with thin, dark coloured head. Thick, silky texture. Although there’s plenty of dark roast malts and coffee flavour it retains a certain sweetness making it very drinkable. Coffee flavours linger in the aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours cloudy very dark brown with stable, creamy tan head. Clear aroma of malt, fruit, roast and coffee. Bitter, roasty and coffeelike flavour, with malty notes and touches of caramel and yeast. Roasty aftertaste with notes of coffee. Soft carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel. Well-balanced, not too strong and very enjoyable. A really good stout. Yummy. My Danish rating #1000 :-)

On tap at Erz Winti. Pours dark black. Aroma of oatmeal, almost bread-like. Intense perfect taste of roast malts and good hops, perfectly balanced and well finished. An impressive stout indeed.

Bottle at home picked up from Bottledog KingsX. Oily viscous, velvety black / dark brown coloured pour with a thin tan head. Some reddy hues. Aroma is sweet creamy smooth roast coffee, sweet berry, strawberry, earthy ashy. Little bitter dark choc on the nose as well. Palate is full and velvety on the tongue, moderate to high carbonation. Flavour is composed of earthy roast coffee, ashy roast, coffee round the campfire, bitter roast, dark chocolate, nice fullness from the oats. Very enjoyable.

bottle at home as a present from Saeglopur, many thanks Thomas :) black color, looks rather oily, small dark coffee-colored head. strong smell of coffee roast, chocolate, some dark fruits. very nice smell. full body, soft carbonation also light bubbly down the throat, light oily mouthfeel. medium strong roasty taste. tastes of chocolate, coffee, light sour-ish, some light hop bitterness, light citric and grass notes, light alcoholic but overall alcoholic nicely hidden. roasty bitter / chocolate / lightly hoppy finish. wow, very nice one, drinks rather easy.
