Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, many say, and if you are a beer geek there is no better way to start the day than with a powerful, complex morning stout.
This is the beer that started it all for Mikkeller. Oatmeal Stout brewed with coffee and seven different kind of malt (Pils, Oat, Smoked, Caramunich, Brown, Pale Chocolate, Chocolate), roasted barley, oat flakes, hops (Centennial, Cascade), American ale yeast and gourmet coffee. Aroma is a combination of malts, caramel, chocolate and coffee. The body is medium with light coffee and chocolate flavors with a creamy texture, average carbonation and a bitter edge on the finish. A beer that goes extremely well with breakfast.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Deep black with a short-lived soapy tan head. Aromas of coffee, dark cherries, roasted grains and vanilla. Silky smooth on the palate with bitter and tart flavors working well together. As it warms up more of the tartness shows. The oats really give it a creamy, velvety mouthfeel. Great long and lingering dry bitter finish.

Pitch black color. Big espresso notes, dark cherries, caramel and excellent roastiness. The mouth is flawless with the roasted malt smoothly blending in with the coffee notes. Very smooth. Long lingering finish moderate bitterness and espresso notes.

On tap at Solijca bar in Belgrade-Serbia. Pours oil bleach with a brownish little foam which lowers fast, leaves lacing and drafts. Nose: licorice, coffee, grass. In the bouts the hops bitter this stout making it very drinkable. Carbonation is medium, coffee is hidden. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black color with big beige head. A bit smokey malt, oatmeal, cocoa and coffee. Taste is rich, more oatmeal, cocoa, coffee, stays dry and not sweet. Super!

Poured into a teku showing half a finger of latte colored foam that quickly dissipates and pours black, oily, and thick. The nose shows very subtle but heavily roasted coffee beans. The palate is thick, very smooth, somewhat foamy with very light carbonation. The first impression shows a lot of black coffee forwardness with a slight tartness akin to most coffee. Unfortunately it is not balanced as the flavor does not continue to the finish. As with the Weasel, most of the bitterness comes from the hops rather than having the coffee/espresso finish one might expect. The finish does show some subtle hints of the coffee/espresso but not overt.

Blackie Lawless color with a fine beige head. Nice lacing. Coffee, chocolate and roasted aroma. Medium to full body. Fine balance between sweetness and bitterness. Soft carbonation. Lots of coffee in the flavor. Also chocolate and roasted. More imperial stout than some other. Nice tasty buddy.

Bottle at home, 24th December 14. Pours elegant black, tan head, that dissipates. Aroma is complex, liquorice, coffee, chocolate, tar, raisins. Taste is smooth, luxurious, in harmony with a soft light carbonation, which is perfect. Coffee, liquorice, roasted malts, slight molasses. Excellent Stout, worthy of the status
