33cl bottle from Abeervinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours a beautiful brown with limited brownish foam, very fine. Aroma is nice of liquor, barrel, wood, dry fruits. Body is dense with good carbonation. Taste is pretty sweet, with minimal bitterness. Finish is moderately long.

Un grand merci à Vincent pour cette bouteille fortement appréciée. Nos cousins Québécois s’inspirent ici des bières d’abbaye belge pour une bière bien pensée, bien structurée, plaisante sans arriver toutefois à la complexité ou à la présence en bouche de nos saintes références belges. En verre nous sommes sur un brun foncé limpide surmonté d’une mousse beige de 5 mm d’épaisseur, plutôt sympathique. Le nez est à la fois malté avec des arômes de chocolat, caramel, fruité avec de la pomme, de la poire et de fruits rouges (fraises et framboise), le tout parsemé d’une touche d’épices. L’ensemble est très harmonieux et équilibré. On retrouve ces arômes à l’attaque sur une très bon équilibre malt/houblon. A la seconde, l’alcool s’affirme au travers de ses 9 %, chaleureux et sur des airs de whisky. L’arrière bouche, davantage sur l’amertume (15,5 d’IBU) et des épices plus affirmées est d’une ampleur correcte. La présence en bouche est elle aussi convenable, sans être incroyable cependant. La troisième bouche et le final voient alors l’alcool prendre l’ascendant avec une complexité aromatique baissant nettement. Très agréable.

Reasonable strong dark Belgian Ale, on the dry side for the style, which, to be honest, isn't a negative. Hints of caramel, cocoa, and brown sugar with a heavy fig-date backbone and spicy yeast notes peeking through on the back end. Finishes dry and yeasty with a firm alcohol bite. Texture is classic sparkly Belgian, and the nose is rich with yeast, candi sugar, and spice. Solid example of a style I probably don't appreciate enough.

75 cl bottle served in water stemmed glasses. Pours liver-colored, hazy and dark, with a dense, ephemerous, tan head. Aroma is intense: caramel, chocolate, hazelnut, molasses, latte coffee, dates, brioche. Mouthfeel is fresh and light, quite fizzy, and very -very umami. No bitterness at all. Not very long-lasting. Nice and neat.

Rating number 3200. 750 ml corked and crowned bottle. Translucent reddish brown color. Small creamy beige head. Dark roasted malt nose hints at dried fruit and burnt sugar. Creamy mouthfeel brings sweet roasted malt and dark dried fruit. Think raisins and figs. Some tart, toffeeish notes as well. Earthy yeast lingers in background. Finish has notes of vanilla, quince, currants and fig jam. Outstanding!

pours very dark brown with a fine off-white head. aroma of figs, raisin, brown sugar, kandy, sweet, malt. alcohol. Poured from 12oz bottle, uh, whoa there! After a couple of seconds, it shot out of the bottle like crazy but I didn't lose much. ;^)
The colour is a dark brown with, um, a huge head of foam that shrank slowly throughout the session leaving a fine broken layer with lots of lacing.
The smell is partly dark fruit(plum), yeast, and sweet malt that quite pleasant to the nose.
The taste is quite fruity up front, the plum I mentioned, a bit of banana, then there's some clove moving in with some nice yeasty flavour. Nice. The alcohol is noticeable but not objectionable and I get a nice tart smack right at the finish. A very nice sipper to have, for sure.
Bottom line: A nice tasty example of the style that does pack some punch so sip on it at your leisure. ;^)
