Guldenberg is a high-fermenting, balanced bitter beer. The origin of the name comes from the former Guldenberg-abbey in Wevelgem where monks used to make beer. Also, Wevelgem is the birthplace of one of the brewers.
Taste: A full-bodied abbey beer that balances between sweet and bitter. It is dry-hopped with Hallertau Mittelfrüh which results in a unique soft-bitter taste and aroma.

I like my Belgian beers and this is a new one to me after acquiring it from Etre Gourmet. Cooled off to enjoy on a rather warm August evening, I pull the cap on the 33 cl bottle before pouring into a globe glass. I see a cloudy dark yellow liquid topped by a steady head of creamy white foam. Vigorous, continuous carbonation ensues. I get the scent of nectarines, yeast and bread. The drink is as I hoped, apricots, malt, yeast, grain and an unexpected, slight touch of melon sweetness. The sensation is complete and full, a testament to the carbonation I think. Tasty and enjoyable.

Large foamy off white head left a froth on an unclear orange body. Yeasty, orange & spiced aroma. Medium bodied, soft on the tongue with a clean back. Belgian yeast, spiced fruits & orange tastes with a bitter earthy finish. Good one.
