Bottle from Trader Joes - Short Pump on 05/20/2009. Clear dark brown body with ruby highlights and a large rocky tan head. Chocolate and light caramel aroma with some floral hop notes. Chocolate, caramel, some light yeasty notes and burnt malt, with a bit of hop bitter in the finish. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

12oz bottle from TJs poured into a New Belgium goblet glass. Its a pretty good porter with a lot of chocolate coming through. Easy drinking, not much of a head formation though. Not much more I can say about that but decent stuff, cannot understand the low ratings. This is the first decent thing that Shipyard has contract brewed.

12 oz bottle from Trader Joes; not an aliased Sea Dog; Nose has caramel, chocolate and a light diacetyl (buttery) note; claer but very dark brown with a medium beige head; flavor was very light caramel, light hop bitterness, and that pesky diacetyl (light and quickly fading but present). Finish lightly bitter.

Brown bottle from Trader Joes. Nutty, chocolaty aroma. Near opaque brown/black color with reddish hilites. A respectable beige/tan head. Thin to medium body with fizzy carbonation. Flavor is caramel, nutty, and maybe a light touch of chocolate. The finish has a slight sour note, some nut, some roasted malt. Reasonably dry. Bitter. Interesting porter.
