Original Pub Style harkens back to the very first brews Gritty's produced at our Portland Brew Pub back in 1988. "We wanted to make a beer that captures what made people fall in love with craft brewing in the first place; a fresh, classic pale ale with plenty of hop character." says Brewmaster Ed Stebbins. Original Pub Style is a light copper-colored medium-bodied with a nice dry bite at the finish. A subtle combination of Cascade and Willamette hops give this ale a fine floral aroma and a slightly fruity aftertaste. The appearance is a golden yellow/orange color with a semi-thick cream looking head that lasts about one minute. The beer has a light cloudiness and has a lacing that slides gently down the glass as it drinks. The smell is pretty malty with some light hops and some ever so light grains. The taste is slightly grainy with the malts coming back and brings in an ever so slight sweetness to it. The palate is medium yet balanced and smooth, and somewhat dry. Overall, this is a good beer that is very drinkable.

Bottle from Liz. Pours light golden amber with a slight white head. Light citrus and caramel aromas. Med body. Thickish feel, so maybe towards full. There’s some caramel, and some citrus, but not all that much, and it’s really only bitter enough to avoid being sweet. It doesn’t have that roasty APA malt, and it’s not bitter in my book. Kind of like some of those other beers from Shipyard - KBC and Seadog. Like they didn’t want to use a lot of ingredients to make a statement.

listed as "pub pale" so hopefully this is the correct entry, tap at Portland location - This tap brew has an aroma of caramel malt and citrus hops. The flavor is similar and well balanced with a medium body. It won’t blow many people away, but it’s fairly good.

22 oz bottle. Used a pint glass. Light hazy orange color. Small white head with no lace. Nose of very light hops and bread like malt. Taste is much the same and just as weak. Thin mouhfeel, watery. Below average, but not terrible.

Darker and more hazy than pale lager. Smell is a little sweet &alarming like those quite rude high alky baltic lagers. First taste is malty and above medium personality impact. Barely any CO2. Dull like many higher hopped APA. Not real impressed but this style rarely impresses me. Dull lingering finish.

Draught at the brewpub. Mild fruity aroma. Hazy light amber colour. The flavour is slightly grainy with a mild, refreshing grassy hop note.

Bottle: Poured a hazy yellow with a off white cream head. Aroma is grass, floral, and hops. Taste is bitter grassy with a light hoppiness. Tongue remains slightly metallic.

Pours amber into a shaker. White head quickly recedes leaving spot lacing to skim surface. Lemon aromas. Crisp and malty with a dry finish.

Thanks to decaturstevo for sharing this one. Produces a small white head over a clear, dark yellow body. Slight malt aroma, some earthy hops. Slight sweetness to it with lots of dryness in the finish. Watery.
