Fairly bitter, a bit harsh. Some licorice root, but definitely could use more depth of flavor.

0.33 l bottle from ’Danny’s Drankshop’, bottled in July 2014, kept for two years in my cellar. Pitch black with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, light brown head. Sweetish-malty, moderately roasty and minimally fruity aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, toasted nuts and hints of dark fruits. Sweetish-malty, quite roasty and a bit fruity taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, tobacco, some hazelnut and hints of dark fruits, followed by a medium long, rather roasty-bitter and quite fruity finish. Medium to full body, creamy and slightly viscid mouthfeel, soft to average carbonation. Really nice RIS, a bit rough still but with great flavours and a pleasant enough mouthfeel. Good!

deep daark brown colour, half inch, extremely dense and stable brownish head; aroma of dark chocolate, herbal and dried fruity (plum) notes and burnt wood; taste is dominated by roasted bitterness with coffee, herbal liqueur notes, hints of tropical fruits and some tannin-like notes; not bad, though the taste is less complex than expected from an imperial stout

Quite good, bit fluffy, yellowish-beige head over deep ruby-shot black-brown beer. Roasted, sweetish bitterish smelling. Coffee, herbs, meatroast, bit mineral. Bitter (hoppy and roasted) with sweet treacle and maltsyrup underneath. Again meatroast - even Maillard? Some bitter chocolate, with dried dark fruit. Quite well-bodied, viscous-slick, dry despite the sweetness. Good strong stout. Not to be compared with US or Scandinavian Imperial Stouts, but good in its own right, which is something that cannot be said of a couple of bene so-called IRS..

Bottle at home. Somehow never rated this before. Black with small short lasting light brown head. Lots of roasted grains, toast, black berries, roasted barley, molasses, brown sugar, light ash. Quite sweet with a nicely balanced bitterness. Full bodied with a bit slick feel with quite some soft but fizzy carbonation. Decent beer.

Opaque dark brown colour with – against the light – a ruby hue, large creamy tan head, good retention, thick lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, coffee, dried dark fruits, cocoa, some liquorice, earthy notes. Taste is medium sweet and bitter, malty, chocolate, with long duration. Bittersweet finish, spicy notes, chocolate tones, full-bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation, overall a very good Imperial Stout.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks rayaron. Black with a tan head. Roasty aroma with coffee, some dark fruits. Roasty flavor, sweet and slightly bitter, with roast, coffee, chocolate, some dark fruits. Rather full-bodied, well-carbonated. Nice.
