De Stoute Gijt is een Russian Imperial Stout van 8.8%. Hij kenmerkt zich door de donkere smaken van chocolade en koffie. Deze RIS is natuurlijk ook goed gehopt met Brewers Gold, Magnum, Cascade en Chinook. De volle smaak van dit bier zal goed tot zijn recht komen na een wandeling tijdens een herfststorm of binnen bij de openhaard, kijkend naar een prachtig sneeuwlandschap. Na zdrowie!

Bottle, 8.8%. Very dark brown/red with medium light beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, dark fruits, yeast and berries. Flavour is malt, dark fruits, yeast, medium sweet, chocolate and hop.

Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Nice head with good duration. Color is dark brown. Aroma and taste are roast malt, notes of lactose sugar, licorice, chocolate and hops. Dry finish.

Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Hazy brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and roasted malt. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and roasted moderate bitter finish. 060413

Bottle from ABC Beers. Pours dark brown with a thick beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and red berries. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 22 Feb 2012) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with coffee, chocolate and dark bread. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, dark bread, hints of ashes and a generous roasty bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, quite dry. Solid and very nice stout.

Bottle. Very dark brown color, thin beige head. Aroma of dark cocoa and coffee. Taste is bitter cocoa and coffee grounds.

33 cl bottle @ home. Deep dark brown color (not quite black). Huge, dense beige head with long retention & good lacing. Aroma’s of hard roasted malts, ground coffee, chocolate (notably retronasal). Flavor is roasted, somewhat chocolate-y sweet, medium bitter. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Finishes with heavy roast, somewhat dry, bitter.

bruin/zwart met minimaal bruine kraag. aroma: waar ? het zeer beperkte aroma beperkt zich in dezen ook nog eens tot maar 2 geuren namelijk mout en gist. smaak: zwaar bitter, sterk kruidig, koffie, chocolade, hoppig.(dry ?) afdronk: zeer lang bitter. zwakke indruk achterlatend

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Black colour, light brown head. Aroma of hard roasted/burnt malts, ash, vodka, vegetable cooking water, bitter chocolate. Flavour isn’t much better imo, lots of agressive hard roasted malts, ash, vegetables, vodka, in the finish finally some nice coffee and moccha notes, alcohol. Medium-bodied. Unappealing RIS imo.
