Bloody ‘Ell – We have never brewed a straight IPA at Beavertown, why change the habit of a lifetime! Here we take a stripped back IPA malt bill and highly hop it with the tropics of Amarillo and Citra and pile head on with kilos of Blood Orange zest and juice late in the boil, bringing you a smack of citrus and hints of warm orange aromas. One of our favourite and most popular seasonal brews. We will be canning Bloody ‘Ell too from February until the bloody oranges run dry!

2016 catch up - Numerous cans at home - Very, very nice IPA and I really couldn’t detect the integrated orange. But perhaps that is the point, it is a layer of flavour and one that is not designed to stand out. Great colour, great flavour and mouthfeel. Overall one of the best IPAs I have tried. It is brilliant in the summer and I have become somewhat obesessive about this and have got other people (including my brother) drinking it. June 2018 - re-rate. Not as good as I remember and a certain weakness to the mouthfeel and a rather short flavour profile. Maybe my craft beer journet has taken me to better areas since I first tried this? Anyway, score reduced accordingly. May 2019. WTF? Re-rate required. They've taken the abv down to 5.5%. And completely emasculated the beer. It's lost everything that was so good. What have you done??????!

(On tap @ CBC 2016 Red Session, Copenhagen) Pours orange-gold with a white head. Aroma of hoppy citrus with a slightly deeper orange character, marmalade like, along with some grapefruit, lemon, pine, a little grass, and a hint of caramel. Flavour has sweet orange and tangerine, light caramel, dry grass, pine needles, zesty, fruity overall, somewhat robust malt body, moderate to high bitterness. Medium bodied, above average carbonation, nice fruity IPA.

Can from Leighton. Lovely orange nose, Amarillo, peaches, lemon, clean malt but it shows a solid backbone, some biscuit. Hazy gold, low lacy head. Great flavor, orange, lemon, some grapefruit. Love this English malt in the back. No caramel, but biscuits and rich. Really nice stuff.

Can from Inn At Home, Guildford. Fruity aroma - pineapple to borrow from a prior rating - with pine and resin. A hazy gold. Lively white head, although it soon thins out. Chunky monkey bubbles. Starts off lightly sour, then develops a bitterness with a real citrus bite. Light - medium bodied. Slightly oily. Lively carbonation, with a long dry finish. Good stuff. The blood orange gives it a real lift but not worth the hype.

330ml can. Clear pale golden colour with a small white head. Aroma: citrus, blood orange, zest. Taste: juicy citrus fruit, grapefruit, blood orange isn’t that strong in the flavour to be honest but it’s there just about, some in the aftertaste too, light sweet with a bitter finish. Medium body and carbonation. Pretty decent IPA I just think the blood orange notes are a bit too subtle when they’re calling attention to it in the name of the beer and on the label.

Keg at beavertown brewery. Was definitely a grower, with the percent blending into the background and with a beautiful sweet bitter finish. Not a huge amount of orange though. Same conditions. 3.8 to 3.5. I just don't get the orange there at all; very overhyped beer despite how nice it is

Draft. A hazy golden beer with a yellowish head. The aroma has notes of straw, malt, and fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of fruits, straw, and malt, leading to a bitter finish.

(Bottle) Golden amber colour, hazy, with big frothy white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of orange peel, tropical fruit, mango, lemon, blood orange and hints of pine needles. Fruity, hoppy taste with orange, tropical fruit, pineapple, mango, lemon peel, caramel, some toast, honey and a generous citric, floral bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Fresh and tasty, with a generous hop presence. Nice one.

Can shared with JMD at HNB 25.08.16. Hazy pale peach colour. Fine white head and lacing. Fine aroma and taste of American IPA, grapefruit, oranges, succade and a hint of mint and malt. Dry and quaffable. Artificial orange taste towards end.
