Well balanced, medium-bodied, with a deep amber-red color, this beer's complex palate covers all the bases. A malty caramel sweetness is followed by notes of chocolate and a dry, slightly roasty finish, complemented by a touch of fruity, spicy hops.

Pours dark, clear amber into a willi.Tan micro head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Caramel aromas. Dry with sweet caramel and earthy brown bread upfront turning light summer fruit before the earthy caramel finish.

Draft at South Station Boston. Fine dark amber pour. Some sudsy head. Nose is spicy and caramel. Tastes of caramel, red fruits, pepper. Pleasant and good for style. Lot of ratings by folks who don’t appreciate amber ales.

Draught @ the source. Clear copper-red with small frothy off-white head, caramel-toffee aroma, high carbonation, lightly bitter caramel taste, thin body, medium finish. Not a very interesting brew.
