Kasteel Rouge is a unique blend of Kasteel Donker and macerated cherries. The ruby red colour, the rich foamy head and the sweet attack result in a specialty beer with a balanced taste and subtle hints of cherries. This fruity beer is everybody’s friend and makes a great aperitif on a sunny terrace. Are you ready for la vie en Rouge?

Sensation of chemical ingredients, sugar, a bit sour, sweet, concentrated of cherry juice, malty, dry at the palate, classical hop, not my favourite, ok, 03.01.2021, drinking it at Bonfol and buying it at the place de l'Aligre, Paris.

Red pour. Thin foam Even lace. Sweet cherry flavor, tastes like bing cherries in a glass. Dry palate. Light bodied and light carbonation.

pours a nice dark red. The cherry predominates but a very deep taste on this one. Really much better than I thought it would be, and the alcohol is well disguised.

On tap at FUZE. Pours clear mahagony with a light pink head. Tons of maraschino cherry on the nose. Flavour has a fuck ton of maraschino cherries, like cough syrup. This would have a nice cherry expression if it weren't for the ridiculous amount of sugar. Christ.

Aroma of cherries. Flavour is sweet cherries, candy-like. Too much sweetness, no sourness at all so I am not a fan of this beer. Artificial flavour. However, seeing that this is both a Kasteel beer and a cherry beer, I was just a little surprised at how easily drinkable it was. Still, this is far from what I consider my kind of beer.

Bottle from Morrisons. Pours a dark red with a nice beige top. Big cherry aroma with fudge, almonds, sweet bread. Taste has a fruity, somewhat tart and syrupy cherry. A touch of almond and caramel. Somewhat boozy although my version was 7%. Smooth mouthfeel. Not bad, certainly quite tasty.

December 2010: Bottle, at the Manneke Pis, Tenerife, as Kasteel Rouge. Served with correct glass. ABV 8%. Dark red colour, nearly black in the glass. Low and short-lived pink head. Strong aroma of preserved cherries. Lovely flavour of preserved cherries and malts.
