This beer is not candy or mother’s milk. It is not brewed by gypsies or aliens, nor does it contain any zombie dirt. This is an American Style IPA brewed with Citra Hops. It is citrusy, sticky, hoppy and delicious. Simply drink it and enjoy it. Don’t hoard this beer, Citra Ass Down and drink it now.
(Online description:) This is a very hop forward American style IPA. Brewed with Pale, Vienna, Munich and wheat malt for a solid base for all American hops, focusing mainly on the variety “Citra.” Citra hops are a relatively new variety introduced in 2008. It was bred as a hybrid of a number of different hops, including Hallertauer Mittelfrüh, U.S. Tettnanger, East Kent Golding, Bavarian, Brewers Gold, and other unknown hops. The resulting hop, Citra, has a distinct citrusy and tropical fruit flavor and aroma. In Citra ass down we used American Columbus for bittering and 11# of Citra at the end of the boil for late kettle addition flavor and aroma. Then we added 6 more pounds Citra and 5# Centennial post fermention for aroma. Rebrewed for your tasting pleasure!

Can to tulip. Pine and citrus rind aromas. Very slightly hazy orange with sustained white head. Flavor is bitter and moderately cloying. Too sweet for my taste and could have attenuated out some of the sugars. This hides the hop flavor - which is dank and citrus. I have always struggled with Citra beers that don’t blend many other hops with it and this is no exception.

Keg at Brewdog Shepherd’s Bush, London. A hazy golden/amber coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, malty, caramel, tropical fruit on the nose. Tastes simialr, hoppy, malty, caramel, tropical fruit, hint of grapefruit. Really malty Imperial IPA and not so much Citra as the name suggests, this was a cracker, I wanted to drink it all evening.

On tap at BrewDog Clerkenwell. Hazy deep amber colour lasting off white head. Some toffe on the aroma. Some burnt toffee hop aroma too. Better in the mouth. Fruit. Grapefruit some full fruity sour i didn’t expect from the aroma. Some peppery finish. A proper full on take over body and senses dipa. Light yet delivers a heavy alcohol punch. Good.

Tap @ BrewDog Clerkenwell, small sample. Slight hazy golden color, short frothy head. Aroma of citrus, bit pine, cookie malt. Medium bitterness, slight cookie sweetness. Lovely. Had it even fresher before, which was even better. Great stuff.

Bottle shared with rlgk, fonefan, ChrisO and beerhunter111. Clear orange color, medium to full sized white head. Aroma is very nice: hoppy, tropical fruits, light resin. Taste sweet malts, resin, pine, hops, tropical fruits, grapefruit and grapefruit hop bitter. Medium to full body, decent carbonation. Very nice!

Can. A- Bland, nail polish, subtle pine. A- Orange color, clear liquid, white head. T- Bitter, pine, caramel malt. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. O- This was a beer showcasing Citra that I’ve wanted since I fell in love with Citra hops. Sadly for me this didn’t show off the side of Citra I know and love. This was no doubt the more dank aggressive side and not the juicy fruity side. A well done IPA, but not what I wanted to get out of it. Big letdown.
