clear brown, huge light brown head. dried fruity, caramelly sweet, slightly malty aroma. flavor is dried fruity, fruity, bitter malty, dark caramelly, belgian yeasty, slightly peppery, belgian spicy - a bit messy.

Clear reddish brown colour, little beige head. Aroma of caramel, malts, liquorice and anis. Sweet malty flavour, spicy anis touch. Spicy finish, liquorice and anis.
Quite nice for a dubbel, even though it isn’t my favourite style I find it rather enjoyable.

Oct 2010: Second beer of the evening, during one of my ’random beer’ tasting nights. The 33cl brown bottle was well out of date when opened (almost 6 months in fact). Poured into my ’Westmalle’ chalice, a little amount of sediment managed to creep into the glass but the beer still looked clear and ruby red in colour. On top sat a thin tanned coloured head. The aroma was of sweet malts and caramel. A semi-sour taste was followed by a sweeter finish, malts being the strongest flavour again with hints of caramel. A bit on the fizzy side, even if it was ’out of date’. Thinner than most Belgian Dubbels and not as tasty.

Red brown colour. Thick foamy head. Warming malty flavour with a hint of aniseed. Quite a rich texture.

Bottle: Chestnut-amber coloured, lots of UFO#S detectable, small persistent off-white head; caramel and traces of dried fruits in the sweetish nose; moderate sweetish flavour, light to medium bodied; short dark-malty and light bitter finish. O.K., not unpleasant.....

Bottle, with thanks to Pivnizub. Ruby, big golden lacing head, quite a few UFOs despite standing upright for weeks. Dry yeasty nose. Lightbodied, sparkly. Dry spicy start, watery middle, cider and dark sugar nose, belgian yeast, cherries retronasal. Quick finish. Falls a bit on its face.

Bottle. A clear, amber beer with a dense, finger-thick off-white head. Fresh and dried fruits on the aroma, some cellar and spices and a little fruityness reminiscent of papaya. Dried fruits, some fresh fruits and a little spicyness in the flavor. Spiced, caramel finish. Medium to full, quite effervescent mouthfeel. Far from world class, but a decent dubbel. 090619
