Bottle @ Benzai. Pitch black oily with a small light brown head. Smells oatmeal, roasty, some chocolate, some coffee, fullgrain bread. Strong smell for its abv. Tastes oatmeal, cornflakes, slightly roasty in the aftertaste. Some chocolate but not very strong. With more abv this beer would be pretty amazing. With this abv its not at all perfect since its a bit thin, but still it’s quite a good beer if you ask me.

330ml bottle. Black colour with small, creamy, moderately lacing, beige to brown head. Roasty and salty dark malty aroma with a touch of salami. Taste is roasty dark malty, dry to bitter hoppy, prickling carbonation adds its part to the dry character. Not overly complex, but straight to the point.

Bottle at home in London. Pours dark brown with a small, creamy beige cap. Dirty, earthy roast in the nose, some dry cocoa, very subtle coffee notes. Light sweet flavor, dirt, some crisp minerals, dark toast, modest baking cocoa. Light bodied with average, creamy carbonation. Lightly drying to finish, more baking cocoa, mineral quality, burnt leaves, restrained earthy bitterness. Well rounded stuff.

Bottle from La Cave à Bulles, Paris, bb April 2014
Black color, with small head. Basic aroma of roasted malt, burnt coffee, and traces of bread. The mouthfeel is dry, the body weak; it has a straight forward flavor of roasted malts, with traces of milk and liquorice; correct bitterness.
As entry-level Stout, it has been correctly brewed; no thrills though.

Frothy brown head. Deep brown/black body. Aroma of flowers, hops and only a few malts - rather unusual for a stout. Lightlt bitter start-off with little indications that would point to a stout, rather a blond beer. Moderately bitter finish with a stickiness and malts that can be attributed to a stout. Lightly bodied, especially for a stout. Highly carbonated.

Bottle. A gusher, producing a big, dark beige head over a black body. The aroma is rather burnt, not ashtray-ish, more like bonfire, with some roasted malts and coffee. Some dark chocolate notes too. Very effervescent, medium bodied and dry. Roasted flavor with bonfire and some tar hints. Roasted and burnt finish. Overall, a nice beer indeed, actually, most beers from this brewery are fine. 120623
