An auburn red ale with subtle malt undertones and a pleasing aroma of vine fruits. This rich ale is brewed with Rye Crystal malt providing it with a distinctive spiced and peppery aroma, with pleasant woody flavours.

BOTTLE 50 CL. Clear ruby red, smallish beige head. Rich deep caramel and dried fruit in the aroma and taste - very nice and not sugary at all. Spicy hops, with a nasty chemical edge. It is not so obvious in the nose, but more so in the finish (which is quite bitter). Light body, medium carbonation. Quite a decent bitter.

Bottle. Appearance- dark ruby, a big foamy beige head, clear despite being dark. Aroma- malts, raisin, hint of vanilla, caramel, hints of chocolate, hoppy. Taste- fairly malty, brown bread, toffee chocolatey undertones, smooth mouthfeel, some hop bitterness in the finish. Tasty.

Bottle from Oddbins. Appearance - deep chestnut with orange chinks. Nose - hobnobs. Some red fruits. Taste - biscuit and dried orange. Nuts again. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy yet crunchy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - never going to be a 4 but good for the ABV.

500 ml bottle poured into pint glass at room temperature. Rich malt nose with a slight sour note. Deep red/ brown beer with thick creamy off-white head. No carbonation. Medium body, oily texture. Taste is surprisingly hoppy with smoky caramel malt following. The hoppy bitterness lingers for ages. Great bitter, balanced and moreish.
