Made for the abbey of Keizersberg in Leuven since 1994 and sold there in the Liturgisch Centrum Castrum. Recognized as an 'authentic abbey beer' since 1999 but almost certainly an alias of Bornem Tripel.

Bottle at the Hopdevil shared with ozujsko Poured a big, thick white head that went away really very slowly. Murky golden/yellow colour. Just some lemony acidity in the nose. Hm. The taste is metallic...some not-all-that-brilliant hopiness emerges, and not-quite-appealing yeastiness, some ok maltiness, lemon and a very faint hint of eggs. Blah. Hoped for better. A lot better. The third and the worst of the 9% golden Belgians we’ve had tonight.

Draught Clear orange-gold with olive hue; huge beige head. Very fresh yeast smell, as above an open fermenter. Some coloured pale malts; alcohol & something milky. Bitter-sweet taste, almondy or frangipane with again some yeasty esters. And lots of alcohol (very much again the Van Steenberge stamp, which was missing completely in the nose). Alcoholburn, even when limited; slick and well-bodied, less than habitual tripel fermentation. Nose was puzzling - blind, I’d have said De Koninck - ducts? But the rest is more typica; heavy, not easy drinking, very much MF.

Magnum corked bottle, 2001, 4 years old
Cloudy blond color. Very nice aroma, dry, spicy, malty, light cork, sweetness. Good body, malty, spicy, bitter. One of the best samples of triple, incredible how it doesn’t show it’s age after 4 years!

Bottled. Clear golden. Piney orange aroma. Medium sweet with clean, rounded mouthfeel and grassy finish. Typical Van Steenberge stuff. Solid, but not exceptional in any way.

Bottle, at Den Tatoverede Enke, Copenhagen. Pale golden colour, slightly hazy. Moderate fruity sweet aroma. Fizzy mouthfeel. Fairly decent flavour (some oak, spices and a little brown sugar), a noticeable alcoholic warmth but not unpleasant.

(Bottle 33 cl) Hazy, pale, golden beer with a tall, rocky head which collapses without leaving any lacing. Very malty with an underlying, faint sweetness. Potent and solid brew although not very sophisticated. 140998

A clear amber beer until You pour the yeast, which turns it unclear - it has an OK head. The flavor is sweet yeasty. The flavor is dominated by yeast but also contains notes of sweet malt and grapefruit. This is way too yeasty for my liking.

In the beginning there were just sparkles of the typical tripel-taste. But after a while the flavour and especiallyt the palate became very good.

Supposed to be a blonde beer. But with its cloudy orange color, and sweet spicy aroma, it's more like a triple.
