The gnomes of Fairyland are particularly fond of this golden beer. LA CHOUFFE, with its slight hoppy taste, combining notes of fresh coriander and fruity tones, is the drink which gives them their zest for life. At least, that's what these imps say when they are thirsty. Their secret used to be jealously guarded from one generation to the next until the day they shared the recipe with humans to seal their friendship. Of all the legends from the wonderful region of the Belgian Ardennes, the tale of LA CHOUFFE is the one which most merits re-telling.

Eén van mijn favoriete bieren. Donker goudgeel bier met een mooie schuimkraag. Smaak is krachtig, licht bitter hoppig en zoet met iets van banaan en wat koriander.

Bottle on 26th May 2025 from Waitrose via Deliveroo. Pours a hazy amber with chunky, diminishing off-white foam and sporadic lacing. Spicy citrus aroma. Rich and spicy malts in-mouth with citrus peel and delicate juices. A rich finish of malts, spices and citruses. Full bodied with an engaging texture.

In my opinion, this brewery is serious. This beer is classical but it is well balanced. The taste is with sugar, malt, some hop, lovely. 02.11.2016, buying it in Paris, typical Belgian ale, perfect with some Spanish tapas and old manchego.
