The gnomes of Fairyland are particularly fond of this golden beer. LA CHOUFFE, with its slight hoppy taste, combining notes of fresh coriander and fruity tones, is the drink which gives them their zest for life. At least, that's what these imps say when they are thirsty. Their secret used to be jealously guarded from one generation to the next until the day they shared the recipe with humans to seal their friendship. Of all the legends from the wonderful region of the Belgian Ardennes, the tale of LA CHOUFFE is the one which most merits re-telling.

A beautiful, deep, golden colour, slightly hazy with a large, white head. The aroma is citrusy, floral, somewhat subdued, with a hint of herbalism. The body is surprisingly light but full, with high carbonation. Nice maltiness, coriander, orange zest, and yeast. Slightly alcoholic, as it warms the throat, but not overly so. Slightly bitter, very drinkable.

0,33 l bottle from Zisch, Wildeshausen. BB 09/2026. Cloudy red golden in the glass with a more than one finger white foamy head. Looks good. Sweet pale fruity aroma, also pale malt. Taste starts pale malty, some coriander, sweet fruity, peach and apricot, increasing alcoholic with dry bitterness. Mid to above average carbonated. Nice one.

Krystallklar golden med høy, varende offwhite topp som blir liggende. Henger på kanten.
Aroma; lynghonning, humle, pære, malt, koriander, overmoden banan, hint av lime/appelsin.
Smak; koriander, havre malt, overmoden banan, lyng, surt eple, humle, appelsinskall, urter.
Balansert, middels fruktig. Noe svak, lek krydderet ettersmak.

Clear golden with a tall white head. Sweet fruits, honey, coriander, spice. Medium bodied. It’s a totally fine beer while also nothing outstanding.

Bottle at home. Probably a mistake but it seemed like a good idea at the time. Good pour with a huge nose of yeast. And a huge taste of it too! Ok.
