De Bie Vélo’ is a blonde triple. “The beer has a special flavour”, says beer expert Robbie Defraeye. “There is a good sweet-bitter balance. The beer tastes fruity and has a malty aftertaste. The spicy notes of star anise, coriander and sage are the finishing touch. Both men and women will love this beer. It is a very tasty and hearty alcohol in percentage terms, but still has good drinkability. "

Bottle from Prik & Tik in Zele. Light gusher. Very thick, papery, coarse, off-white, thickly cobweb-lacing head over a peach blonde beer with ochre hue, cloudy from the start (usually a bad sign). Aroma of soapy star aniseed (though no spices are mentioned on the label), cherry tomato, melon, pear, clove-like phenols, gingerbread, honey, apricot and banana- to even slightly bubblegum-like isoamylacetate. Sweet, fruity and estery onset, a lot of banana and peach as well as residual white candi sugar, medium carbo, smooth and supple body, lightly caramelly malt sweetness, resinous and soapy-sweet spiciness with retronasal star aniseed effect along with lingering white candi sugar sweetness; the spiciness has a light bittering effect as well, more so than the hops, which remain near silent. Sweetness prevails. Sweet spiced tripel like there are too many around already in this country and technically a bit flawed, I’d say below De Bie standards even, but still quaffable.

27/02/2016 @home - 33cl bottle from a trade with tderoeck. Hazy orange with small sticky head. Nose is watery, some fruits, overspiced. Taste is malty, yeast, accents of fruity hops overpowered by spices, sweetness. What a pity. With more fruitiness, less spices this couldve been a nice one.

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Nr Gent, Belgie. Consumed at home, on our birthday weekend Sunday 15th November 2015. Pours light amber with a sticky white head. Mmhhh...initial thoughts are far from positive I am getting some minty mouthwash, both on nose and in the mouth. Far too sweet, artificially so, this is a shocker, I looked at the label and assumed naively that I had picked up something from Brussels Beer Project or Brasserie de la Senne, got that wrong didn’t I. Threw it, it’s shit A3 A4 T3 P1 Ov6 1.7
