From the brewery's website:
Kapittel Pater is een roodbruine “single” met een smalle romige schuimkraag. Dit bier is, net als de andere Kapittels, van hoge gisting en wordt afgewerkt door de nagisting op de fles. Door het gebruik van donkere moutsoorten wordt een pallet van chocolade en karamel gecreëerd, maar ook een citrustoets is merkbaar.

Draught. Dark amber colour, big off-white head. Sweet malty aroma with hoppy hints. Flavour is weirdly mixed sweet- and sourness and some plum. Sticky palate, which becomes drier in the finish.

Bottle. Slightly hazy, reddish-brown beer with a nice, beige, almost tan, but diminishing head. Aroma has lots of sweetness in it, with raspberry, some citricness, candisugar and a hint of roastiness. Sweet, light hoppy flavor with malt and some roasted notes. Caramel and raisins too. The body is nice and has a soft, lightly sticky mouthfeel. Sweet and hoppy finish that unfortunately has a metallic twist. A really pleasant treat after too many pale lagers. (060313)

Bottle. Sweet orange and apple malt aroma with moderate hops. Cloudy orange brown color with small but lasting head. Very syrupy sweet malt flavor up front (a bit cloying) with a strong bitter hops finish. One of the worst tasting belgian ales I’ve tried.

(Bottle 33 cl) Dark amber, with a big, brownish head. Very full-bodied and aromatic from the malts. Some fruitiness and light, sweet caramel - but overall the dryness dominates. Very discreet hops in the finish. 091197

Slightly hazy amber coloured body with strong ruby highlights and a nice frothy off-white head. Aroma of malt, coriander seed, curacao, caramel and a very light hop presence. Light-bodied; Metallic & vegetable tasting up front with pungent twangs of blood and stale malt. Some funky sweet flavours follow soon afterwards, then leaving a bitterness in the palate that lasts and lasts. Overall, a fairly bad beer-nothing too great going on in this one. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased in the special four pack at Village Pump Liquors in College Park, Maryland on 15-January-2004 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
