Dubbel in this range since 1955.
From the brewery's website:

Pours a mahogony brown beer with a beige head. Aroma of dark malts, caramel, toffee, dark fruits, spices. Flavour is malty sweetness, brown sugar, raisins. Some spicy bitterness in the finish. Enjoyed this one, for me a bit above the average Dubbel.

Bottle from Drinks Vanuxeem, Ploegsteert, Belgium. Pours a very dark mahogany colour with a large thick foamy beige head. Aromas of dark fruits, plums, berries some caramel, toasty brown bread and a slight tartness. Taste has dry dark fruits, more plums, caramel and toasty brown bread, a leathery note, a touch vinous and an earthy like bitterness on a lingering finish. Thin to medium body, fairly low carbonation and oily mouthfeel. Nice beer. Quite unique and how i imagine beers tasted centuries ago. I like it.

Brown with a frothy head that lingers. Understated chocolate cupcake aroma. Taste is a mess: sour, sweet, and then lightly bitter at the finish, none of it coming together, ladened with an artificial, unclean feel, and an aftertaste of stewed vegetables. Body to the full side of medium, good chewiness. Poor but drinkable.

Appearance: Cloudy chestnut brown with a moderate beige frothy head of decent retention. Aroma: Toast & caramel, dried figs & dates, prunes, nuts. Taste: Light to medium sweet, light sour. Dark malts, esters, fruity yeast. Low bitterness. Mouth feel: medium body, average plus carbonation. Summary: Quite strange.
