The region where Oppigårds is located is called Dalarna, hence the name of this lager. It’s an amber lager brewed with organic malt. A modern style lager with balanced bitterness and hop aroma and toffee notes from the caramel malts.

Pours slightly hazy amber color, topped with smaller and non-lasting offwhite head. Mild malty nose with biscuits and caramel, some fruitiness in the back. Sweet maltiness, gentle with medium grassy bitterness. A bit astringent. Light bodied. Metallic aftertaste.

Bottle, 0.33l. Clear copper pour, one finger soapy white head. Relatively short retention with lasting thin layer. Good lacing. Nose is nicely herbal and grassy with notes of citrus and coriander. Fresh and crisp. Medium body, medium to high carbonation. Somewhat light on the palate, refreshingly fizzy. Pleasantly bitter taste, a bit higher then expected. However, it's not harsh or abrupt, nicely refreshing. Aroma is quite nice, similar to nose. Herbal, grassy, grainy. Good lingering hop bitterness. Citrus notes. Dusty. Slightly acidic towards the finish. Overall, pretty good. Acidity aside, nicely balanced and enjoyable, especially if you prefer your beers bitter.

Bottle from systembolaget. Looks and tastes way more like an ale than a lager. Initially starts good but is absolutely decimated by the clinging bitterness which is very foreign to what is supposed to be a lager. Hard to get through, too much malt. Meh.

Medium offwhite head. Clear coppery body. Fruity freshly cut wood and resin aroma with mineraly notes. Sweetish mineraly freshly cut wood taste with resiny herbal notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish freshly cut wood and herbs aftertaste with dried fruit and spice notes. Lovely! Excellent balance, vivid, clear flavours, and nice complexity. Very highly drinkable and moreish. (0.33l bottle, from Systembolaget, but not sure which.)
