1/5 orange beer, very carbonated, under 5/6 whipped eggwhite-like, closed yellowish head. Lactic nose, milkripe grain, spicy, outspokenly yeasty and... alcohol? Toasted malts, spicy and again very yeasty taste. FInish is pure EU, noble hop. Very lively, even fizzily carbonated. Really dry, light to medium bodied. Yes... authentic enough. But I wonder why. 2 Pipaix breweries specializing in (lighter) Saison(like) beers, 1 excelling in strong ales. And now?

Bouteille 33cl, BB 24/11/2016. Dorée sur un léger trouble, col épais crémeux. Arôme au bouquet frais, agréable rétro malté avec un bouquet belge prononcé surtout dans l’impression de levure qui procure un côté rustique. Je note également un profil houblonné noble mais très frais. Palais est sec et bien pétillant, malt basique carapils, pâle, houblonné frais apportant une pointe de fleuri et de citronné. Retrouve une belle sensation de grains au niveau des malts, pour un léger fini rustique. Le tout est légèrement adouci, fruité avec une pointe épicée de la levure. Pointe ester, sorte de farine pâtissière, amertume modéré des houblons nobles. Sans être une révolution, le résultat est assez plaisant et rafraichissant surtout en période de belles températures.

330ml bottle from Chez Marie, Ieper. Pours hazy gold with massive bubbly head. Big spicy sweet saison aroma. Excellent yeasty, doughy, spicy sweet Saison taste.

Pours a clear golden color, topped with a huge foamy white head that slowly settles to a level letting you finally taste the beer. Malty aroma, some yeasty notes and spices - nothing that would stand out. Taste is similar - sweet at first, herball, grassy and a bit earthy, medium bitterness with some yeasty notes. Soury feel in the end. Expected more, to be honest.

Bottle at home in London - sourced from the Merchants of Beer, online. Opens with a hiss but, thankfully, no gush. Pours mostly clear gold, massively effervescent, with a bulky white froth that works its way above the rim. The nose is fairly classic saison yeast with touches of dry wheat, some mellow esters, citrus, straw. Light to medium sweet flavor with some pleasant tangerine, wheat bread, minimal bitterness, touches of lemon, banana, hay. Light to medium bodied with very active, chewy carbonation. Finishes with slight alcohol warmth, some sugary and lightly doughy wheat bread, meringue, more tangerine, some mandarin orange, zesty lemon, straw, peach. A down-the-line saison. Solid.

330 ml. bottle @ home. Purchased @ Delhaize. BBF 24/11/2016. I always question these historically re-created beers. I mean even just the basic ingredients like water, hop, yeast,… have changed so much over time and not to mention brewing techniques etc. I feel like there is no way that these beers are even a remote approximation of what they used to which is probably nothing nice to begin with considering how common infection etc. were back then probably. Anyway, light golden, sparkling, big at first but disappearing white head, small popping bubbles. Nose is lightly chemical huge esters, medicinal lemon peel, aspirin yeast & esters, powdery yeast,… Carbonation is huge. Taste is esters, big lemon esters, aspirin, yeast, light plaster, flower bitter, aspirin, yeasty, aspirin, chalky, faint buttery note,… The huge carbonation & esters are modern Belgian all the way and not in the best way. Flavor appears to be minimal intentionally, esters are huge as is the carbonation,… Okay but not all that. Not exactly what I think of when I think about saison’s. It is decent for what it is.

Helder geel bier met schuim. Smaak is hoppig en krachtig bitter en sterk met ietwat friszuur fruit, blijft lang hangen. Gewoon goed.

Bottled@HBF2015. Golden colour, mediumsized foamy head, which quite quickly settles into a smaller one. Aroma is citrus, some earth, herbs, mild funky notes as well as some slight yeast. Flavour is citrus, some slight floral and grassy notes along with herbs and mild spicy yeast to it. Refreshing, but quite basic.

Clear golden colour with massive, light foamy head. Intense carbonation. Very difficult pour. Quite a sweet malty and floral aroma. Dry flavour with a spicy, yeasty feel.

33cl Bottle from Sterk. Hazy golden yellow colour, enormous white head. Aroma is very classic, rustic, dry, yeasty, not very spicy, hay, pale malts, husks, light floral, tiny hint of funk. Flavour falls a bit short, unfortunately, light floral, malty, yeasty, some fruity esters, hay, bitter and a bit soapy finish. Light bodied.
