Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Stas. Clear golden with a white head. Spicy and fruity aroma. Spicy and fruity flavor, rather dry. Over-carbonated.

Bottle @ home. Clear orange golden color, huge white head. Smell and taste malts, lightly yeast, lightly dried fruits, quite bitter. I actually quite like this one. Decent body, firm carbonation.

Bottle from De Hopduvel. Orange colour, white foam. Lively carbonation. Malty body with notes of citrus and grass. Light tart notes. Light hoppy finish. Ok beer.

Bottle at horecabeurs . Pours rather clear blonde, good white head . Smell is rather sweet . Taste is sweet , bit bitter . Rather sharp .

Dubuisson’s ’new’ beer but, as the old-fashioned label already suggests, in fact a rerun of an old school ale which was already around back in the fifties. Still very limitedly available as they are in the process of testing it on the local market. Moussy, snow white head with good retention, colour clear orange blonde but misty with deposit. Aroma of orange peel, peach, dried banana, butterscotch, sundried tomato, honey, white bread, vanilla and a slight hint of whisky. Crisp fruity taste, citrussy touch, lingering sourishness in the background, bready and caramelly malt sweetishness, grassy hop bitterness in the finish, but still remaining primarily malty. Decent and very enjoyable quencher, but I do not see how this is a saison, as it shows practically none of the barnyard yeasty earthiness and ’wild’ esteriness usually present in the style; I can, however, accept this to be one if seen from a merely historical point of view, dating from a time when ’saison’ did not yet mean anything more than ’quenching summer ale brewed in Hainaut’ or something like that. Still, since this is Dubuisson, I expected a bit more.

24/X/14 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - BB: 24/X/15 - that's strange, either this came straight of the bottle line, and was transported to my beer fridge last week with a time machine, or the bottle was exactly 6 months old. That, or they just put random expiration dates on their beers. :p (2014-1242)

Clear dark blond beer, huge fluffy soap foam like white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: smells like a pilsner beer upon opening the bottle, then when warming up in the glass some banana, bit sweet, hint of citrus, sugary, bit floral. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: banana peel, pretty bitter, citrus, spices, coriander. Aftertaste: more spiciness, coriander, banana, bitter hops, bit metallic, unpleasant bitterness in the finish.
