Bottle, 0.5l. Clear copper pour, very visible carbonation. One finger off-white head, soapy, weak retention. Pleasant malty nose with good hoppiness in the background. Herbal and citrus notes, grainy. Medium body with surprisingly soft carbonation. Regular texture, a bit light but quite smooth. Moderately bitter taste with malty sweetness. Aroma quite nice, malty, slight caramel, a bit roasty. Lots of herbal notes, touch of honey, a bit grainy. Herbal liquor. Good hoppy background, a bit earthy, a bit citrus. Mildly bitter finish, medium lasting. Overall, quite tasty. Nicely balanced, fairly complex, refreshing and highly drinkable. Good brew.

0.5 l bottle from local ’LIDL’, best before May 2018. Clear, deep amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Slightly sweetish, fruity-herbal, floral and slightly resiny aroma of tea leaves, citrus and some spruce. A bit sweetish, slightly bitter, fruity-herbal, grassy and floral taste of tea leaves, orange jam, grapefruit and some spruce, followed by a crisp, rather bitter, very dry, grassy and slightly resiny finish. Medium body, moderately effervescent mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Very decent stuff, a classic British Ale with a refreshing hoppy character and the typical dryness. I would have never expected such a beer in a German LIDL. Not sure if it’s a good sign or not though.

Bottle (purchased at LIDLs Kraft Bier Korner, The Bermuda Triangle):Deep golden, clear, visible carbonation, medium-sized and slowly collapsing off-white head; juicy malty-fruity nose with a decent floral bitterness in the background; mild to moderate bitter-sweet flavour, soft and light to medium-bodied; slightly lingering floral and fruity-malty bitter-sweet finish. Nice brew, an archetypal english ESB...

From a Lidl in Berlin. Drunk from the bottle. Aroma of hops, citrus, pine and some pepper. Medium to heavy bitter taste. Lively carbonation and slick texture. Drinkable but leaves your mouth dry after a while.

Hellmalziger, trocken herb-würziger Hopfenantrunk. Geringe, zum Mittelteil steigende Bitterkeit, spritzig, etwas brotig. Steigend hopfig, dabei eher dunkel ohne besondere Fruchtigkeit. Kernig, frisch, bodenstänmdig wirkend. Gelungen. 10/10/11/10/9/10
