Brewed with Pumpkin and Spices (Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Cardamom, Cloves). This 8.0% ABV pumpkin ale is heartier, spicier, and more caramelly and pumpkiny than its faint brethren! Perfect finisher on a cool autumn night, or match it up with a slice of pumpkin pie and fresh whipped cream. If you don't agree this is the mother of all pumpkin ales, then you just don't like mothers!

Bottle. A- Nutmeg, Cinnamon, holiday spices. A- Brown color, murky liquid, minimal head. T- Nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, spices, gourds. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, unbalanced finish. O- Tons of spice and not much pumpkin. Really unbalanced and I really did expect better. Pretty gross actually but not totally putrid.

Draught @ Albion. Faintly cloudy dark orange-copper with small frithy beige head, strong pumpkin aroma, sweet caramel-pumpkin taste with cinnamon and cloves, low carbonation, smooth body, medium sweet finish with pumpkin aftertaste. Very nice pumpkin ale.

A hazed golden amber ale with copper hues, and a thin mocha head. In aroma, intense pumpkin spices with cloves, gingerbread, cinnamon, light maple syrup, nice. In mouth, a sweet fruity malt with loads of incense, cinnamon hearts, cloves, esters, nice. On tap at Syracuse Beer fest November 2014.

Pours from the bottle dark amber with thin lace head. Aroma is very cinnamon heavy. Taste is smooth but spicy in the finish.

12 ounce bottle. Chestnut brown color with a foamy beige head. Big cinnamon and clove nose with a sweet toasted malt note. Tangy toasted malt flavor with lots of pumpkin pie spices. Rich and flavorful with full body. Notes of caramel and pecan. Finish is herbal hops and and cardamom.

12 fl. oz. bottle picked up at the general store of Franklins Brewery, Hyattsville MD. Pours out in a dark copper, foamy light tanned head, lively carbonation. Like dentist fluid on the nose. First time I tasted a pumpkin ale. Medical, cardamom, clove, spicy caramell. Very strange to me. Maybe I would rate it better with more experience with this kind of brews, but at this time, it´s not really my cup of tea.

Weyerbacher’s Imperial Pumpkin Ale. This is a bottle I picked up at Ølbutikken in Copenhagen. 8% this beer is made with spices including cardamom so I curious to see how adding that to the mix will change things. It pours an opaque reddish brown with a very light beige head. A not overly spiced sweet aroma, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon seems balanced. The taste is medium bodied, sweet & fruity with a bunch of spices in the finish. Fairly complex, I think it’s more my style than Southern Tier. More of a general fruitiness than truly pumpkin but less spice forward(at least straight from the fridge) pretty good.

Bottle @ ZZT9 thx to me. Hazy orange colour, small white head. Smells aftershave, lots of herbs, tons of cinnamon. Tastes cinnamon, herbs, sweet.. Medium body, soft carbo.
