Imperial Pumpkin Ale

Bottle. Better Beer Of The Month Club. Clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma of spices (cinnamon, nutmeg and more), some pumpkin, malt and caramel. Sweet flavor with malt, caramel, a bit of pumpkin, quite a bit of spices and a drier and more spicy finish. Medium-bodied. I don’t like the style, but this one’s quite OK. Alcohol is well-hidden.

Draft at Whole Foods Tyson. Pours clear orange brown with a cream head. Aroma of pumpkin, nutmeg and cinnamon. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

On draft at Whole Foods Tyson’s. pours a clear amber with an off white head. Intense pie spice aromas. Flavored of cinnamon, cloves, allspice, pumpkin and a hint of caramel. A quite nice example.

Draught @ The Ginger Man, NYC. Pours clear amber with small off-white head. Clear, fruity aroma with a vinous touch. Sourish, vinous flavour with grainy notes. Sourish and bitter aftertaste. Nice but first and foremost interesting.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 7/10/2013. Pours slightly hazy reddish copper color with a 1 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of pumpkin, brown sugar, caramel, toast, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, nutmeg, brown bread, light raisin, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, pumpkin, and spice notes; with solid strength. Taste of big pumpkin, brown sugar, caramel, toast, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, nutmeg, brown bread, light raisin, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/spice bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of brown sugar, caramel, toast, pumpkin, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, nutmeg, brown bread, light raisin, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, pumpkin, and spice flavors; with a great malt/spiciness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness as well. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with very smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly slick/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice imperial pumpkin ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, pumpkin, and spice notes; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Aroma is rather strong on spices – feels like a christmas beer. Also some pepper, punpkin and hints of toffee. Flavour is also very spicy with apricot and pumpkins. Too spicy but kind of interesting still.

355ml bottle from Drink Shop, Tallinn

Pours dark orange with a small white head. Intense and strong aroma of pumpkin, spices, solvent, hints of cinnamon and glogg/mulled wine. Taste is malty, spicy and sweet with notes of pumpkin, glogg and caramel. Finish is sweet and spicy with some pumpkin notes. Quite strange and a bit unbalanced. Like drinking a cold glogg with pumpkins.

Bottle. Pours a clear orange copper with medium frothy white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is dtrong spice and cinnamon. Medium mouthfeel with a very sweet caramel and spice with light bitterness in the finish. A good spice from Weyerbacher.

Almost non-existant head over hazed red-orange beer. Overwhelming pepper & ginger nose, some cardemom?, purely spicy. Taste is thankfully mellower with additional fruity and toasted malt notes, but still a truckload of ginger, cinnamon and other peppery spices. Gingerbread too, lightly toasted breadcrust. Medium bodied, lightly slick, slightly burning MF. Lopsided spicetincture.
