Originally a special draft-only release for the 2012 Decatur Green Fest, this beer was so adored that we decided to bring it on full-time in 2013. With a mild herbal spice hop aroma and a malty flavor profile featuring notes of caramel, toffee, and nuts, this malt-forward, Altcentric beer is a welcome compliment to our hop-forward roster. Brewed in association with Dogwood Alliance, an organization formed in 1996 and dedicated to protecting Southern forests and communities from destructive logging practices.

This brew pours a clear orange-amber color with a medium thin foamy off-white head that recedes slowly. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of toasted malt and hops. Light body with flavors of roast malt, grassy hops and caramel. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

12oz bottle pours a clear, cream soda amber with some thin, white head. Nose has a little bit of candy, some bread, some malt, a little cream soda, a little orange. Flavor is similar, sweet, caramel, cream soda, brown bread crumb, light lemon peel. Clean, watery finish. Decent alt.

Growler from the Sandy Spring Beer Growler. Dark copper color with a big, bubbly, tan head. The lacing is thin. The aroma is toast, resin, bitter orange peels, and grass. The flavor is very bitter, with some toasty sweetness. Medium body, sticky, and grainy. Overall, this is a very malty, surprisingly complex, and delicious beer.
