Since Saint Joseph’s Day on 19 March 1993, Andechs Weissbier Hell has found many new friends. Untreated and bottled in its natural state of yeasty turbidity, this is a top fermented beer for the epicure.
Its light honey colour makes it an immediate eyecatcher. Then there’s the opalescence and fine structure of the yeast turbidity. At the same time, the creamy, fine pored head invites you to get to know this light Weissbier from the Holy Mountain. You’ll need two takes to enjoy the aromas to the full.
First, distinctive fruity aromas like banana and honeydew melon come to the fore, followed by fine cloves. Andechser Weissbier Hell is a very tangy, refreshing treat with the conviction of a full, soft body. It concludes on a finely balanced interplay of light sweet honey and a delicate acidity with undertones of bitter hoppiness that quickly subside into a harmonious aftertaste.
A Weissbier that embodies a slice of the Andechs lifestyle: finely yeasty, tangy, and sparkling, it refreshes and renews the thirst for more (original extract: 12.5%; abv: 5.5%).

Bottle. Cloudy honey yellow colour, big white stable head. Lots of banana on aroma. besides that spicy yeast and phenols which are not that welcome as I . Light to medium body. Medium sweet banana taste. Good. Yeasty spiciness going along. Low bitterness. First class Hefe. Not my favourite Hefe.

0,5 l bottle. Pours hazy light golden yellow with big thick white head. Aroma of banana, vanilla, some light clove, malt and bread. More on banana side this one. Taste is light sweet, very light bitter and a hint of sourness. Body is on the light side, texture is slick, carbonation average to lively. Body wise this hefe one is on the light side, banana dominates aroma, delicious and refreshing.

500 ml from tap at Andechser in Mering. Served in Weizenbier glass. Very nice pale orange-yellow colour, medium white head. Banana, yeast, hay, lemon. Very balanced taste, slightly bitter, grassy, yeasty and sour hint. Oily texture, medium body, soft carbonated. Very nice!

Hazy translucent golden (or slightly darker), healty and pretty dense head, nice retention and lacing. Aroma is mainly freshly fruity (melon, light banana, lemonish touch) with a hint of spiciness and maybe a hint of bubblegum. Taste has a bit of white/soft bread foundation, lemonish and melon notes, a hint of clove in the finish. Overall its pretty refreshing, obviously sweet (averagely so for the style) with a slight hint of acidity. Light bodied with good, soft carbonation resulting in a slightly creamy but still very easy mouthfeel. A pretty good hefe, not too remarkable in terms of intensity, but very well made and enjoyable.

Bottle. Cloudy pale orange. Great head. Aroma of yeast, lemons and some bananas. Taste is citrus fruits and yeast. Full bodied. Sour and spritzy. Medium carbonation. I love Andechs and this is a decent Hefeweizen but there are better ones out there.

Pours unclear blonde small white head. Smell is intense. German buttery yeasts. Taste is full, buttery yeasty, overripe banana, vey low carbo. Typical German style beer. Stillnot my thing but not repulsive or bad in Quality.

Bottle shared thanks to sjogro. Hazy yellowy golden with nice white head. Cloves up front with a very light smoky touch. Like smoked cloves. Followed by unripe banana, light lemon rind, dough. It’s light sweet with super fresh tartness, like drinking ice cold spring water. Very light herbal and yeasty bitter finish. Just medium bodied with surprisingly light feel, no cloying dough here it there is a decent wheat thickness. Nice.

At Maakun’s. Shared from bottle. Sweet grain, banana milkshake, light hoppy bitter, thin smokey layer. Medium sweet, light bitter. Medium body, very supple fresh feel, mineral water, soft carbonation. Bittersweet overripe banana finish with faint lemon zest. Makes me want more. Good stuff.
