Got this bomber from JRs thanks to the new PA-LCB beery law relaxation. Lured into a $6 purchase because it said lemongrass and I know lemongrass is slightly tart, other lemon grass beers I had were darn good. High hopes on the label with lemongrass and shit, I like beers with lemongrass. Bomber for $6, better taste pretty darn good. Pours a really nice head with a hefe looking body. Wow, this is one of the best heads I’ve seen on a beer out of a bottle! Mild saison yeast aroma, no perfume fer sure. Yes, taste is quite yeasty as well. That is the first palate impression, lots of Belgian yeasty effects from France. Not experiencing any tartness at all in this one. Yes, yeasty with a little bit of co2. Could have a bit more creamy sizzley carbonation. Yes, quite an impact, yeast saison yeast. All I got to say is; "WHERE IS THE LEMONGRASS?" What else can be said? Mildly annoyed. However, in the end, it does hide the alky content rather well, getting unexpectedly a little dizzy, hehehhah. Typical farmhouse Belgian yeast in Franny? Yes, lemongrass or slightly tart? NO! Eh, less than expected. Not happy to pay a spud for this bomber. It’s a little medicinal for a saison.

Very good Belton style saison. Aroma’s yeasty, malty, a bit fruity, citrusy and spicy. Flavor’s like nose, good balance between bitter, sweet, and tang. Excellent body and finish.

750 ml bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a large rocky white head. Fragrant yeasty bready malt nose. Hints of honey and lemon prevail. Upfront, flavor is citrusy with yeasty notes. Some banana and clove reminiscent of a Bavarian wheat ale. The sweet maltiness gets a bit of spicy hop balance in the finish, though their is some doughy farmhouse funk as well. Well done.

Draught @ Albion. Slightly cloudy bright yellow with very small frothy white head, doughy aroma with citrus at the background, low carbonation, sweet starting citrusy taste with little hops influence, medium tart finish. More tart than hoppy.

Bottle: Poured a hazy yellow color ale with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light lemongrass notes with some sweet Belgian style malt notes also noticeable. Taste is dominated by a mix of light lemongrass notes with a rather sweet Belgian style malt base with light bready and yeasty ester. Body is about average with good carbonation. Too sweet for its own good IMHO.

Pours a hazy amber from a bottle with significant effervescence. Aroma is a bread dough, with grass and some kind of light sugar candy, not cotton candy, but maybe just rock candy. Flavor is a nice malty breadiness with some light spice, coriander and lemongrass maybe. A pleasant burn at the end. Very good beer.

The Beer Store, Southampton PA 750ml: Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is lemongrass, citrus, Belgian yeast, farmhouse funk. Taste is dry and quite citrusy. Alcohol is well covered; nothing is overwhelming. As others have said, this is subtle and doesn’t try to go over the top. Quite good otherwise.

Super hazy golden tinted copper coloured body with a nice, two centimetre tall, thick dense tan head. Aroma of grass, hay, yeast, coriander seed, curacao and some caster sugar - nice and pungent. Light-bodied; Strong herbal, dry, grassy and yeastie flavours throughout with a bunch of lemongrass, lemon zest and light spices coupled with some yeast bitterness. Aftertaste shows a high complexity of the spices, yeast, coriander seed and especially the light citrus and sugars. Overall, a well-balanced beer with a great layering of flavours that show well and strong but not overpowering or potent. Overall, a nice saison that is true to the style and well worth trying, if you can find it and like the style! I was ready to hate this beer since I don’t like ’reputation’ beers or breweries, but this one is just steady across the board. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from K&E Discount Beverage in New Paltz, New York on 14-June-2014 for US$9,99 sampled at home in Washington on 03-September-2014.
