Dubbed ‘The original craft beer’, this dangerously drinkable legend has been in the family since 1899, when Tom, the old brewery cat, was sketched into immortality by Robinsons’ Head Brewer as he waited for the ale to ferment. 120 years on and it’s still the same great tasting ale, brewed to the same award-winning recipe. Rich, malty and warming, Old Tom has a distinctive deep port wine finish, with bitter hops balanced by the heady aromas of dark fruit.

Fles gedeelt door KoenvD, geprobeerd met Roelzie1986. Het is donkerbruin bier met weinig schuim. Het heeft een moutige wat dropachtige geur. De smaak is moutig, gebrand en wat zoethout achtig.

# 596; 1/2017. Moje první setkání s old alem - a vůbec mi to nezaujalo. Nepříjemná železitá vůně. Chuť plná, sladší, pražená, ovocná, lékořicová. Edit 4/2020. Strong plum aroma, honey, iron, caramel. Dark red, clear body, tan, thin head. Malts, molasses, sweet, chocolate, dried fruits, alcohol warmth. Very good, porter wine like beer. 0,33 l, bottle, supermarket, Pilsen (Bohemia, CZ).

Off-white head. A dark beer with deep red reflexes. The aroma consists of bread, caramel, melanoidins, and other bock-like stuff. A bit of acidity. Otherwise, it's fairly sweet with almost no bitterness. Full body, medium carbonation. Sticky.

Heavy maltaroma. Sweet, malty flavor with alcohol, peach, apple and red berries. Thick. Good strong ale, but not entirely convincing.

A dark reddish-brown ale with a thick frothy lacing mocha head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with light vinous character, dark fruits and treacle, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a sweet fruity caramel malt with light butterscotch, alcohol warmth, light licorice, very nice. Bottle from Fairprice, Changi Jewel, 6.90$S.

The nice aroma of barrel aged beer. Quit strong oak flavour to it. Tastes similar to a good scotch ale. D&S Dresden

T: malty, chocolate, fruity, caramel, bit vinous, dates, nutty, bit peppery, relatively easy drinkable and good balanced for the style, medium body, and soft carbonation, enjoyed, 33cl bottle from Cora Woluwe-Saint-Lambert in Brussels.

Bottle from Booths Supermarket, Media City. Extremely dark black-brown with a small off-white head. Noticeably strong in both aroma and taste, there's a few dark malts in the latter. Quite hoppy.
