Nomad is our spin on the classic Bohemian Pilsner style. The journey starts with German malts and Saaz hops that offer a lively floral nose and crispness, while a full 5 weeks of lagering time ensures that Nomad is eminently balanced. This Nomad may wander, but it’s got some serious roots.

A hazed blonde yellow pilsner with a thin creamy lacing white head. In aroma, sweet grassy fruity malt with light mineral qualities. In mouth, a light biscuit musty malt with light Saaz hops, mineral notes, light fruity sweetness, OK at best.

Bottle. Slightly sweet grainy malt, and light grass aroma. Slightly hazy golden yellow with a moderate dense white head. Bitter herbal hops and bready malt flavor. The bitterness lingers quite some time. Medium body, lively carbonation.

Bottle from Bine & Vine. Pours gold with a foamy white head. Aroma seems floral and grass. Med body. Flavor is sharply bitter in a grassy way. There’s a little breadiness, but not enough to detract from the hop. Helps me understand what crisp means.

12 ounce bottle from Wegmans Lake Manassas. Pours a slightly hazy very pale straw color with a thin frothy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of big bready malts, cracker notes and herbal, floral hops. The taste is grassy, green hops, bready notes and some nuttiness. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness. Quite nice.

Pours a clear pale straw color with a medium thin and lasting white head. Spotty lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of mild hops and malt. Light body with flavors of bready malt, grassy hops and a bit of tangy fruit. The finish is mildly bitter with a short hoppy aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Total Wine Fairfax 12oz ($2): Pours a light golden colour with a white head. Aroma is grain, hops, flowers, and grass. The sweetness in this beer immediately lets you know that this is a Czech style pilsener. There is a good amount of hoppiness and about equal portions of graininess. Generally well-balanced and very sessionable.

12oz bottle from Crossroads Beer & Wine, Burlington, MA. A brilliant straw colour with a thin white head and moderate carbonation; subdued German hop aroma; the taste is more substantial though with a grainy body that’s just off sweet, and a decent showing of hops giving a lengthy bitter finish that’s slightly rasping and warming.

12oz bottle pours crystal clear gold with decent enough near white head. The light aroma offers up a mix of spicy to floral hops that are pleasingly not backed up by over sweetness like many of the style. The taste is straight up bitter spicy and floral hops forward and then winding down clean Pilsener malts that create space for a modest increase in hop flavor. Clean and refreshing and leaving a pleasing hoppiness into the after taste.

Bottle says brewed 1/12. Pale gold with a white head. Aroma of grain, cooked cabbage, lemon, earth. Urk. But the taste is better if a little rough - plenty of bitterness with lemon and floral notes, but there’s firm bread backing it up. Vegies are there too, but subdued compared to the iniital whiff. Better after the aroma which is close to nasty.
