"San Diego-style IPA, as it has come to be known by many, is a super-hoppy, high gravity, yet highly quaffable ale. Green Flash Imperial IPA is created in this new tradition, with intense hop flavors and aromas from a unique blend of Summit and Nugget hops. It’s all about the hops!" -- Brewmaster Chuck Silva

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark golden color with a huge foamy yellow-white head that lingered forever and produced great lacing. The aroma was dryish with strong notes of pine and grapefruit and a faint caramel undertone. The flavor is very bitter with a moderate tart grapefruit and pine presence and undertones of floral hops, and caramel. A bit tangy and sour underneath. The finish was long, dry and very bitter with lingering hops. Full and thick body. Drier than I would prefer. Nice.

Bottle, 22oz. An unclear, golden beer topped by an off-white head. Very hoppy nose that blends nicely with the malts. Resiny and slightly citrusy. It’s full-bodied, with beef-stocky malts and a good hoppy bitterness also giving resiny and citrusy flavors. Lasting, bitter finish. A pretty straight forward, no nonsense IIPA that goes down really nice, not strecthing to far in any direction. 091230

Tap at Deep Ellum, Boston. Clear golden color, medium white head, massive lacing. Aroma of freshly mown grass, wet with morning dew. Taste is subtle but very present hops, black pepper; good balance, great character. A winner.

Bottle. Pours a rich gold with a prominent, pure white head. A rich hop aroma, with strong notes of grapefruit and grass. Flavor is more hops but not aggressive like a lot of DIPAs. Very fruity, with more grapefruit as well as some pineapple. Medium in body and resiny. Sticky on the finish, piney. Really enjoyable. One of the more sessionable DIPAs I’ve ever had.

660 ml bottle. Hazy golden body with a thin off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit and pine. Flavor is light malty, some caramel and mostly dominated by citric and pine hops. Almost a bit one-dimensional but still balanced and quaffable. Re-rated 11/5-11

22 oz. bottle, pours a bright orange with a thick buttery head. Aromas of citrus hops, herbs and pot. Flavour reveals a wonderful mixtures of the herbal / pot notes and citrus hops. Exceptionally well-made.

Bottled@Konttori, Tampere. Goldeny orange colour with mediumsized big foamy sparkling bubbly head. Aroma is fruity and floral hops along with some mild caramelly and mild spicy notes as well. Flavour is quitee much the same, with a rsther bittery finish. Pleasant.

11th October 2008. GABF.
Very very grassy and spicy hops. Like sticking raw hops in your mouth. Could do with some refinement. Original rating 2.7
3rd August 2010. GBBF
Clear gold beer with a residual suddy white head. Deep rich syrupy hops - huge amounts of grass and grapefruit with a tiny bit of sweet pineapple buried underneath. Enjoyed this much more second time around. This is a very aggressive IPA.
