Hop Dam has been a long time in the works, and its design required us to build a large stainless steel hop dam for our kettle, just for this beer! It was worth all the effort, because this beer is extremely hoppy and very satisfying, using 50% more hops than our Mean Manalishi Double IPA, which was voted Best Double IPA In The World by the US Beer Tasting Championships. Hop Dam is 10% alcohol by volume, and really hoppy, with a bitterness level that is very high but refined and therefore refreshing – its like kissing a hop!! Along with all the standard hop additions, it is also mash-hopped, first-kettle-hopped, and dry-hopped!!! Hop Dam is a 100% American-style IPA, dominated by the top-rated, assertive and refined Amarillo hops, along with lots of aroma and flavor from Columbus, and Cascade, and the wonderful Summit hops – the very special dwarf hop plant picked by hand, and sought-after for its great flavor and aroma. These hops work great together, and make Hop Dam TRIPLE IPA our new standard for hoppy beers!! It will be available for only a few months, so get Hop Dam while it lasts!

22 oz bottle of the latest batch. Trade from a friend, thanks Daniel! Clear amber/golden copper with tiny bits of sediment floaters, nice two fingers of off-white head. Aromas of biscuit, grapefruit citrus, caramel. Tastes of grapefruit citrus, hop oils, lots of floral notes, some alcohol. Medium body with a dry and warm finish. Feels somewhat unbalanced, a bit too floral/bitter and boozy with not enough citrus for my liking.

Bottle, Beer Moth, Manchester. Poured a vivid dark orange colour with a decent white head. Resinous hop laden beak with sweet malt and citrus notes. Similar traits unfolded in the flavour which was sweetish with a heavy dose of rich hoppy goodness alongside some tropical fruits. Fullish with some robust bitterness that got the juices flowing. Quality.

hazy dark golden-amber colour, moderate dense yellowish off-white head; aroma of pine resin, grassy-citrussy hops, some honey and maybe figs; taste of brutal hoppy bitterness, resin, and malty sweetness; long lasting bitter aftertaste; perfect imperial IPA

Bottled:
Pours amber with big chunks of yeast slowly sinking to the bottom of the glass. Thick head. Hoppy aroma with notes of shampoo and pine. Very bitter flavour of hops, resin, pine and wood. Extreme and tasty.

Bottle. (thanks Eddan) Hazy orange with a small white head. A lot of hops both in the aroma and taste. Pine, orange, some grass and with a nice bitterness. The finish was long. An excellent beer.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours very cloudy golden orange color with a 1 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, orange zest, tangerine, orange rind, lemon zest, floral, pine, grass, light honey, and floral earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity of big hop notes with a light-moderate malt balance; and big strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, orange zest, orange rind, lemon zest, pine resin, floral, grass, light honey, and floral earthiness. Lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, pine, floral, grass, light honey, and floral earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome balance and complexity of huge hop flavors; with a light-moderate malt balance and zero cloying bitterness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth, lightly slick, and very sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming noticed after the finish; very smooth to sip on for 10%. Overall this is a highly excellent DIPA! Big presence and great complexity of citrus/pine hop flavors with a light-moderate malt balance; and very smooth to sip on for the gravity. A highly enjoyable offering.
