Hop Dam has been a long time in the works, and its design required us to build a large stainless steel hop dam for our kettle, just for this beer! It was worth all the effort, because this beer is extremely hoppy and very satisfying, using 50% more hops than our Mean Manalishi Double IPA, which was voted Best Double IPA In The World by the US Beer Tasting Championships. Hop Dam is 10% alcohol by volume, and really hoppy, with a bitterness level that is very high but refined and therefore refreshing – its like kissing a hop!! Along with all the standard hop additions, it is also mash-hopped, first-kettle-hopped, and dry-hopped!!! Hop Dam is a 100% American-style IPA, dominated by the top-rated, assertive and refined Amarillo hops, along with lots of aroma and flavor from Columbus, and Cascade, and the wonderful Summit hops – the very special dwarf hop plant picked by hand, and sought-after for its great flavor and aroma. These hops work great together, and make Hop Dam TRIPLE IPA our new standard for hoppy beers!! It will be available for only a few months, so get Hop Dam while it lasts!

Flaska från Brill. Fruktig doft av aprikoser och mango. Smaken är riktigt besk, men fruktigheten finns där också. Lichie, mango, tropisk nektar, resin. Oljig munkänsla. Häftig och riktigt god.

Yeast in suspension, including some scary UFO’s, though after letting the bottle settle, things get better. Dull coppery-orange beer, with a small yellow head; Too much oil to keep the head up. All in all a rather restrained nose; hops yield citrus and exotic fruit, rosewater, but no hints at sweetness. Very faint gingerbread, however. Resiny-bitter, slightly meaty, massive hops’ onslaught. Still, there’s adequate maltbacking and body to sustain the hopoils’ dose. Longlasting, even slightly agressive hopflavour as aftertaste; Bit catty hops; warming up more and more orangepeel. Very viscous, oily; hides the alcohol well. Well bodied, of cours. Pleases me more than I’d thought possilbe. Definitely one for the hopheads, but with an appreciable level of complexity, rather than crude hoporgy.

Bottled at SBWF. Hazy deep golden, small coarse head. Grapefruity nose with pear and ink. Sweet and full bodied with sticky mouthfeel. Long inky resiny bitterness. A complete mess.

Bottle, 22oz. It pours an almost clear body, dark golden in color and topped by a small, off-white head leaving lacings. It’s resiny, piney and lightly citrusy on the nose, with some maltyness in the back. The flavor is quite bitter, as expected, with a solid malty backbone to support it. Citrus peel and pine cones too. Full body, feeling both sweetish, yet dry, on the palate. Mostly bitter finish. Even though I love hops and all the joy they bring, this one’s maybe a bit too bitter. 111229

Bomber @ The Rover. Pours clear deep amber, with a brownish offwhite head that doesn’t leave much trace while dissipating. Smell is sweet, malty and hippy with caramel, alcohol, orange zest, lemon zest, sweet bread, pine, wood an resin. Taste is sweet and very bitter with grapefruit juice, resinous wood, orange peal, lemon peal, grass, wet moss, overripe plums and lots of alcohol. Mouthfeel is round, oily bitter, boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is slightly sweet and very bitter with sticky caramel, oily pine, fresh grass, orange peal and grapefruit peal. Boozy and unbalanced. I’m not impressed.

650ml bottle. Cloudy dark orangey golden colour with small, lasting, frothy, lacing, off-white head. Intense fruity aroma has notes of peach, grapefruit, lychee; additionally mint. Taste is initially caramel malty. then bitter hop overtones come in, the fruity notes can partly push away the hop and the malt basis predominates once again before slightly biting, grassy, bitter hop notes form the lasting finish. Very well balanced, not overdone, full bodied, but not too heavy - superb stuff.

Bomber from Bruisin ales. Pours clear copper with a creamy off-white head. Aroma of strong hop and sturdy malt. Flavor is brown sugar and lots and lot of floral and citrus hop. Burns a bit in the finish. Hop burn not heat burn!

A dark opper brown beer with a weak and blond head. Aroma is sweet and toffeeish, tropial fruits and some pine forest after rain. Taste of sweet fruits, citrusfruits, grapefruits. Not too sweet due to at least medium piney bitterness that dries the mouth almost totally, the aftertaste is piney even some resin. Full bodied, smooth carbonation, balanced sweet and bitter. A lot of sweetness and a lot of bitterness, nicely balanced and even strong sweetness, still enjoyable, Overally piney bitter flavours.

Hell hopfiger, grasig-klebriger Beginn. Die Herbe wird voller, der Hopfen bleibt intensiv, der Alkohol ist deutlich erkennbar. Honigartig, klebrig, zunehmend bitterer werdend. Viskos, hopfenintensiv, stimmig. 9/10/8/11/11/11
