Yeah, it’s that good! HFS is our GABF 2016 Bronze medal winner in the Strong Ale category. This West Coast-style American IPA is light bodied and full of hop flavor and aroma. It pours a pale gold with a light, fluffy, off-white head. Featuring a combination of Mosaic, Simcoe, and Citra hops, HFS presents a bold tropical fruit explosion with hints of grass and pine balanced by a light and bready malt character.

Can - lightly hazy gold - a wispy malt presence gives just enough for bitter hops to cling to, but fails to provide character - some citrus and pepper and not much else - meh.

Taster showing pale gold with sparse white foam. The nose shows a lot of grapefruit pith and rind. The palate is light bodied and well carbonated. Grapefruit forward with a lot of pine tones and a harmonious resinous pine bitterness on the finish. Pine accents are not overdone and the grapefruit keeps it fruit forward but the bitterness ties it together. Pretty damn good.

Can from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours gold with a foamy white head. Citrus pine aroma with a hint of tropicals. Very smooth mouthfeel; med body or so. Flavor is mildly roasty malt with pine/citrus and a touch of tropicals somewhat on top of the malt. Mild hop burn. Lots of hop. More than moderately bitter. Tastes very good.

If you ever wanted to make IPA great again, this is the bad boy to do it. Deep golden color. Massively big punchy hoppy nose with pine, citrus and buscuity malt notes. Slight resininess. Sharp aggressive bitterness, off dry, with sufficient maltiness to even things out. Dry bitter finish with the pine and citrus notes. Excellent ipa

Gate code unreadable. The Aromas are fresh grapefruit pith Hops and pale malt. Flavors are like nose, with the addition of pine resin hops, slightly sweet of front with increasing bitterness towards the end. Good carbonation, body and finish. Nice beer.

Poured my own in the Barrel Republic, Oceanside California on 25th March 2019. Golden body, clean and clear; wispy white head. Citrus notes rule both the aroma and taste in this fruity, hoppy number. The citrus bias overshadowed any piney hints from the Mosaic hop content, but otherwise it was fine.

(On tap @ MBCC 2017 Yellow Session, Copenhagen) Pours a lightly hazy gold with a white head. Notes of pale malt with a clear bit of sweetness, fair amount of pine and herbal resinous character, grapefruit, sweet mango/peach at the core, a bit of oily quality to the hops, relatively dry into the finish with moderate plus bitterness, pine and earth, a touch grassy and a little floral as well. Medium bodied, slick, average carbonation. A solid IPA, quite drinkable, not overly complicated, stands out in this crowd for being more west coast in style.
