This ale-type beer was created for PALM brewer Alfred Van Roy’s 90th birthday. The ultimate expression of his passion for the distinct fermentation fruitiness of his personally selected PALM yeasts. A real royal treat of a beer. Its appearance is copper-coloured, with a rich, white head which clings to the glass. The aroma is reminiscent of banana; the flavour has bite with a great deal of body. The beer is slightly sweet due to the alcohol, but is nevertheless somewhat bitter and fruity too. Re-fermentation gives the beer a pleasant, dry aftertaste.

dark golden colour, minimal slightly yellowish white head; aroma of intensive honey, some grains, minimal earthyness and alcoholic notes; taste is the same; not that bad Belgian Strong Ale

BOTTLE 33 CL. Bland aroma of malt and some fruit sweetness, stale beer/wine barrel. The flavour is more intense but the body is light with CO2 acidity and warming alcohol. Astringent finish without any hops. Mediocre.

Bottle at JP’s Pub, Den Haag. Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a thin broken white head. The aroma is rich sweet alcoholic malt. The flavour is moderate bitter light sweet with with a bubbly Lucozade like fake sugar yeast palate. Light bodied with lively carbonation.

Bottle. A hazy golden beer topped by a small, dense, off-white head. The aroma has a cellary, mouldy touch with some fresh fruits and dried fruits. White sugar too. Some malts. The flavor too is rather sweet and sugary, with some cellar and dried fruits. Full body, dry and with a pleasant carbonation level. Lasting sweet finish with some caramel notes and cellar. Drinkable, but too boring and there’s too much sweetness and cellar. 141213

The follow-up to the original Royal of 2003, just a little bit stronger (+0.5% ABV, so I’m wondering if they can still be called aliases?). Snow white, sticky, thick head, deep orangey golden blonde colour, amber, clear. Aroma of caramel and walnuts, green apple, grapefruit, banana, orange peel, flowery hops and the unmistakable cooked smell of pasteurization. Smooth, rather neutral onset, turning more caramelly, honeyish and nutty in the middle, some fruitiness, lightly sourish touch, light hop bitterishness in the finish, some spiciness and some warming alcohol, as well as lingering malt sweetishness.
