This Pale American Belgo style beer was 2010 GABF’s silver medal winner. It has notes of spicy pineapple, mango bubblegum aromas which comes from the unique marriage of a special Bel-gian yeast and an American Simcoe hop. This beer has an initial soft malt sweetness with orange fruitiness and finishes with a hoppy dryness.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours amber with a medium creamy head that burns away slowly. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of fruity hops and caramel malt. Medium body with flavors of herbal hops, ripe fruit and sweet malt. The finish is hoppy with notes of malt and yeast left over. Above average overall.

On tap. Pours amber with a white head. Yeasty aroma of bubble gum and cloves with some citrus. Flavor is at first dominated by the yeast, bubble gum and clove, then some citrus, grapefruit and orange, moves in on it. Kind of a spicy hop flavor as well. Pretty nice.

Very frothy amber beer. Enormous head with sherbety hop flavours! Palate is soft and almost creamy. Taste is an unusual combination of water chesnuts and hops! The water chesnut flavour always reminds me of ’Deus’ but this is much much more hoppy. Nice blend of flavours and a nice palate.

Tap at New Beer. Pours a slightly hazy gold with s medium, white head. Nose is quite fruity, with typical citrus from the hops but also banana from the Belgian yeast. Up front the flavor has medium sweetness, then quickly shifts to bitter with light pine, finishing with a distinct Belgian character. The candy sugar is highly perceptible and adds a unique layer to the beer. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Really nice.
