Brown Ale aged in used Pinot Noir barrels from local Sonoma County wineries. It is aged for about 12 months with sour cherries, brettanomyces, lactobacillus, and pediococcus added to each barrel. Flavors from the cherries, Pinot Noir and oak balance each other nicely with a little funk from the brett.

375 ml bottle, bottled 07/21/2017, shared by Werckmeister, many thanks!
Deep red body, with a medium, fluffy, yellowish head.
Aroma of red wine, grapes, red berries, sweet barrel, some vinegar, some cherries, some apples.
Tastes quite similar, with more citric notes, sour-dry cherries, some pears.
Medium, slick mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes dry, wooden, vinous, fruity, with apples, pears, some cherries, slight vinegar.

Really tasty. Elegant and vinous, with lovely, diverse fruit notes, while the cherries arent that prominent. Greatly integrated barrel, very well balanced and fresh to drink. Not among my favourite style examples, but great stuff nonetheless.

Taster at brewery. And I thought Consecration was the bomb. Wow! Not a sour guy, but this could turn me. Deep golden hue, soft foamy head. Aroma is soft and fruity. Taste brings the Brett, gently. Sweet and tart, like the candy. Hits it on all levels.

From Jul 2008

I got this bottle of batch 00s thanks to a trade with Tayner. Thanks Dana!

It pours a hazy peach colour with a 1" head of foam. There's some good lacing and foam is shrinking but looks like some of it will be around at the end of the session. Ok, the foam did leave the scene entirely but, what the hell..

The smell is just what I like to find in American Wild Ales...huge sour notes from cherries and lemons. Also a big yeasty profile with some vanilla and oak. Super nice nose.

The taste is as good if not better than the nose. Wow. Big oaky and yeasty notes with some yeasty tones and big fruity tartness from lemons, apricots, and cherries. There's also an underlying sweetness coming from vanilla. And did I mention the funk? No? My bad. The Brett is definitely present here working its magic, intertwining with all the other luscious flavours. and bringing real justice to the style.

Marvelous, simply marvelous. The mouthfeel is medium, the carbonation is brisk but fits this ale so well, and it finishes with that sour cherry tartness that just demands that I take another sip tout suite. Eminently drinkable for me, to say the least.

This is a world class brew in my book and thanks go out again to Dana for sending this my way!

Very pleasant malt presence. Light cherries & plenty of oak. Grape skin tannins. Perfect sweet & tart balance. Lovely beer.

Hazy ruby-brown pour with a tall off-white head. Notes of sour cherries, mould, brett bitterness, lactic acid, red wine, grape skin, grape vinegar, raw almonds. Medium body and carbonation, a bit too syrupy for a sour beer, with a bitter, musty finish.
