Rumble IPA is an American IPA with subtle nuance. Brewed with heavy-handed additions of Pacific Northwest hops, this beer is gently aged on French and American oak resulting in a wonderful balance of bitterness, caramel sweetness, vanilla, and undertones of pine and citrus.

Tap. Pours clear amber with a small off -white head and some lacing. Aroma is of citrus, pine, roasted malt, and alcohol. Taste mimics aroma, except that there is much less citrus present. Alcohol notes are (somewhat unpleasantly) prominent in the taste. Rich and full bodied in the mouth.

Bottle @ home thx to benzai! A big and creamy off-white head on top of a hazy, deep golden to orange colour. Smells like lovely bitter hops, fruity, sweet and fresh. Tastes pine, apricot, grapefruit, hops, bitter, refreshing. Great IPA! Great carbo, medium to full body. Lasting taste.

355ml Bottle - Amber with a foamy head. Pine, oak, toffee and grapefruit in the aroma. Nicely balanced taste with notes of grapefruit, pine, toffee and dried apricot. The oak notes are noticeable, but not overwhelming, like in some similar aged beers, and the hops are nicely balanced as a result.

Bottle from the Bottle Shop Canterbury. Hazy russet/amber with lasting thin beige head. Hoppy woody aroma. Well you see I like Great Divide beers. Yes they can be on the sugar sweet side sometimes, but overall I do like them. But I don’t like barrel ageing and particularly not on hoppy beers. However, this one isn’t as bad as some others. However, I’d still rather have the base beer by itself rather than have some vanilla and wood added. Sweet toffee vanilla aroma. Vanilla goes on through the mouth in the flavour. I’ve decided after 9800 beers that the only place I want vanilla is in my ice cream. Still it’s drinkable enough, but the wood and the vanilla do annoy the hell out of me.

Bottle, 12oz. It pours a more or less clear one, light amber in color and with a dense, small, off-white head. Lightly dusty on the nose, with the hops dominating. Light citrusy, resiny and piney. Malty sweetness too. In the mouth it’s full-bodied and nicely carbonated, with malty sweetness, some notes of toffee and of course resiny, piney hops and bitterness. Bitter finish. A bit sweet for my likings, but a decent IPA anyway. 120218
