Can at BeerTemple, Amsterdam. Aroma of malt, caramel, nuts, some dark fruity notes, hint of smoke, hops. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a moderate bitter finish. Medium bodied. Certainly an enjoyable Brown Ale, but where’s the bacon I was promised?

On tap @ Nedre Foss Gaard. This is a near clear really deep ruby colored one, not too much of a head on it really. It smells like a sweet bock that has been blended with sweet licorice, some cardboard and a little herbs. Not too bacony really. Mild gliding in the mouth and it's somewhat soft on the carbonation. Prickling I'd say. Again, bockish in the taste. No real traces of the promised bacon here. Dark caramel sweetness and a little ripe plum. Not what the cake promised, but it's definitely a drinkable, slightly dull one. 29.05.2015

Draught @ BrewDog Gothenburg. Pours tiny hazy dark reddish brown with a small frothy brownish beige head that leaves some thick lacing on the glass. Smell is malty, tiny fruity and tiny smokey with sweet bread, caramel, chocolate, dried pine needles, moist soil and orange peal. Taste is sweet, slightly bitter and slightly malty. Mouthfeel is soft, round, tiny astringent and medium bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with caramel, toffee, moist grass, dried pine needles and orange peal. Fairly solid brown ale. Bit on the sweet side.

50cl can. I am a vegetarian, but also a ticker... ;-) clear brown, smooth light brown head. aroma is malts, faint mild hops and perhaps a slightly salty note. flavor is malts, almost no hops, ends also malty, very typical brown ale flavor i’d say. The only thing slightly indicating bacon added is a glue like palate, like the fat on meat. I can usually detect meat in quite small doses, only the palate gives the beer away. schlenkerla tastes lots more like meat than this one, and schelnkerla is even vegetarian.
