Bottled, from Systembolaget. Almost black, rich beige head. Rich aroma of sassafras and licorice. Mid sweet with medium-full body and rounded, spritzy, somewhat oily mouthfeel. Dominated by belgo-style phenolic yeast components - tiger balm and marzipan. Roasty malt comes through in the shape of leather, grains and licorice. Notes of peppermint and brown sugar paves the way for a mild finish. Alcohol is well hidden. There seems to be a reason that the font size of BELGIAN is bigger than that of of STOUT... Interesting beer, perhaps too much tiger balm, but it certainly sticks out. Normally S:t Eriks beers are clean and elegant - this leans more towards soulfull and rustic. I like that!
